Very nice I have Mars figures for this period - used them for British Royalist army however will be swapping flags to use as Imperials soon as I have more metals for my Brits. Also using Mars figures to make French army for 30 years war. I like your diorama- especially the way you used the cotton for firing cannon. Would love to see what you can do with the Mars Swedish army with culvern. At moment I’m doing the Mars Imperial army kit the back axel of cart needs a lot of packing to make it level and horse team using wire will be quite a task needs a lot of filler. Loved your discussion All the best from down under Lewis Sydney Australia

Very interesting and probably unusual subject too. I personally like Lynxes on wheels better than those on skis, and if these were retractable, it would look even better (and resembling the AW-139 a great deal). It looks quite accurate for a Hobby Boss kit, as I see that interior. I also have a Lynx awaiting its turn, yet mine is a Revell kit. One little detail that has particularly caught my eye was that cable under the tail. Very good job, Rob.

Thank you very much, Sir.. :) :) I wanted to use fishing line for the antenna cable, but it had got lost in the mess that is my hobby area, so in the end I used ordinary cotton thread.. :) It will have to do..

Very, very interesting subject, apart from extraordinarily simplistic and quite elegant. It seems that sub kits in general are not that tough, not at least these in small scales, and if to that we add the well-known simplicity of Hobby Boss small kits, the result is so tempting indeed. Interesting piece and great work, Rob 👍

Thank you.. :) I have built a few of these little submarines in the HobbyBoss 1/700 scale range, and they are great kits, quick to assemble but still quite detailed for the scale.. I will without a doubt build a few more, I hope, before I pop my clogs.. :)

I'm glad you went with the Blue Angel Blue. The French was way too purple. I can't speak for the Danes, but orange USN torpedoes are exercise torpedoes. They have no warhead and just a few minutes of fuel. when they run out of fuel, they float to the surface for retrieval and reuse.
@BasicModelling16 күн бұрын
@@jwrockets Thank you. The French Blue was just a base coat, it was never intended to be the main colour. The Blue Angels Blue matches the original quite well. 😊 As for the torpedoes, I deliberately added exercise torpedoes because I thought the orange stood out more against the blue of the helicopter. Whether the Danes used them I don't know, but I would imaging so, being part of NATO and all that.

Tall hook? What is that? Draken have never landed on an Aircraft Carrier.
@BasicModelling22 күн бұрын
Well, that may well be so, but the Danes insisted on it... Danish combat jets have had arrester hooks since the 1960's and obviously the Danes wanted the same on their Drakens, in case of emergencies etc. The Danish Drakens were the heaviest of all in the SAAB 35 series, due to being fitted to NATO standard and generally using heavier drop tanks.

BEAUTIFUL. It is not everyday that we see some diorama based on the Asian theatre, because the most common one is the European one. Just one question: if you use modeling clay as base for the diorama, I guess that you add all the stuff (stones, plants and such) while the clay is still soft and humid, right?
@BasicModellingАй бұрын
Thank you.... I enjoyed building this old Airfix kit and yes, it was fun doing something from somewhere else than Europe, for a change. Now, odd as it may seem, I wait until the clay is properly dry, to add any bits, trees or stones etc. It doesn't dry rock hard, so holes can be made quite easily, for trees or other things, and it responds well to superglue.. :)

Thanks for making this diorama and making this video for us!!! It reminds me of an old book I read years ago. It's a book about being captured by the Japanese in WWII and the man was brutally tortured to instill fear. I remember reading a passage where he escaped but heard the sounds of this tank as he was hiding. By no means this tank was that deadly but the fear that instilled in him by being tortured made him afraid of anything Japanese. Thanks for making this project.

Yes, they had a brutal regime against their prisoners. The father of a friend of mine was a gunner on Liberators in the Pacific theatre, and some time after the war he started working for Mitsubishi. They asked him if he had ever come across any of their products before, and he said yes, he had shot down a few.. ;) I'm glad you liked my humble effort.. :)

I bought the recent Airfix re-release of the P.1127 yesterday. They must have made changes every week because I can't find any old photos on line which match the box art & decals. The horizontal tail shows it to be an early P.1127 but the intakes don't have the thick edges to them like many photos show. Oh well it is an early 1960s kit.
@BasicModellingАй бұрын
I have exactly the same issues, I have bought the 'Vintage Classics' as well, as I wanted to build the short nosed version, but finding suitable references that matches the box art and decals options in the vintage release is near impossible.
