Except for Herman Goring, all the big fish got away (through suicide) Hitler, Himmler, Goebbels and Bormann. Although Joachim von Ribbentrop and Ernst Kaltenbrunner were captured. Those two would make the list of the top 10 most wanted Nazis after the war ended. Who should not have been executed? Julius Streicher (Only thing he was guilty of was being very prejudiced against the Jews) Who should have been executed? Albert Speer (Fritz Sauckel got the death penalty and Speer was his boss) Speer apparently said all the right things while in custody and showed some remorse and admitted guilt where as Sauckel did not admit any guilt. The prisoners were numbered (as far importance) Top 5 1. Goring 2. Hess 3. Ribbentrop 4. Robert Ley (suicide October'45) 5. Wilhelm Keitel (became #4) 6.Kaltenbrunner (became #5 after Ley hung himself)

I can't believe how young some of these pilots were couldn't see the youth of today doing that brave pilots to fly that many missions and not get shot down is worth a medal on its own they basically had to fly till you die the stress must have been unbelievable hats off too those luftwaffe pilots towards the end of the war they were outnumbered 7-1 in some case taking to the air with those odds against you brave men no wonder only a hand full survived the war

This is an over-simplification. Are these JUST vehicle commanders or commanders and gunners? Several of these names started as gunners and went on to command their own vehicle or even armor units. Vehicle commanders lead TEAMS and not one could be discounted as vital. Radio operator? How do you know what's on the battlefield? Driver? On a Stug...?! Loader? Against swarms of T-34s? On the best teams, the gunner had the authority of a commander to take the shot when HE deemed proper. Let us never forget (thanks for "destroyed" and not "kills") what this destruction entailed. "War" is never "glorious"...except for the generals, politicians and arms manufacturers.

its strange concept that these men were put on trial in own country, but judges were their enemys... kind of a conflict of interest... not to mention very hypocritical sense it was the war.. and every country was killing people... also how could they count or prove how many people died, or who was responsible ? id guess most of these men never actually killed anyone, there would be alot of soldiers or nazi henchmen doing the dirty work, but they got off free and clear ? also hypocritical to scorn killing or harming, and then sentence people to death? who are they to decide... also why the heck was us involved , no germans ever came here startin trouble
@robertaustin69402 ай бұрын
Nuremberg trials were a complete farce. The Germans were convicted of the Katyn Forest massacre where more than ten thousand Polish officers and civilians were slaughtered and buried in large pits. Years later the Soviets admitted to carrying out the massacre. So much for the credibility of the Nuremberg trials.

Hjalmar Schacht was not a Reichsminister without Portfolio, he was the Reichsbankpräsident until 1937, which was Germany's Central Bank. He quit when he realised he couldn't do anything to prevent German economic policy led to an inevitable war.
