tire width x height and the gearing of those axles? Curious because I plan to take my np203 case to a machine shop so that they can help turn some steel into either a 1.78:1 under drive and then re gear my bronco to a 3.04:1 with 32" tires or a 0.78:1 O/D box with 3.73's and 32" tires.

Yes it was swapped in two or three owners prior to myself. I actually met the guy who did it when I was helping a friend out on the side of the interstate. The guy pulled over and told me they pulled the engine out of a box truck and put a bunch of good parts on it.

crap, dude. videos like this really contradict my thinking. Originally I wanted an extended cab long bed f250 7.3 so I could haul a lot and take it moderately off road as well. My friends all have midsize pickups, and, while they can't tow much, they handle so well up here in the twisties in the mountains, and they seriously go absolutely anywhere at all. snow, mud, sand, rocks, they're incredibly capable vehicles. I've been thinking about getting an old toyota pickup or a ford ranger or something, but I still want to have a larger truck so I can do a lot of hauling with it. My plans are to do mostly overland stuff, with a side purpose being a tow vehicle and spacious camper with a topper on it. Videos like this make me wonder if I should just go for the OBS.
@460FordBronco793 жыл бұрын
Honestly you can pretty much get any solid axle full size truck and slap some locking differentials in it and it will go just about anywhere you point it and still be able to haul all of your gear or pull a trailer if need be.

@@460FordBronco79 well update: i did buy an obs. 97 5spd 7.3 ECLB. i’m happy with the truck but i’m not at the same time. it’s horribly impractical, it’s slow, and everything’s broken on it yet it’s still reliable as a brick and goes (so far) everywhere i’ve taken it. the issue is not the traction, it’s the wheelbase. the places i wanted to take the truck i could not fit without taking an awful line and going so off camber and putting it on two wheels. the dana 50 IFS is pretty nice, and it’s geared perfectly for all my needs except highway driving. i might get rid of it soon but i may just keep it. not sure yet
@460FordBronco793 жыл бұрын
@@MCatwar if you ask me I think you should keep it. There’s a huge aftermarket for these trucks that will fix the slow and underpowered part. I do empathize with the wheelbase thing because there are some trails I can’t do because they are too tight. But they wheelbase does save me on other trails where shorter vehicles fall into holes and I don’t so it’s an even trade off haha.

@@460FordBronco79 yep! i cruised through areas my friends jeep got all tippy, but he could actually make the switchbacks and i couldn’t. actually, my dipstick tube adapter just failed so i installed the strictly diesel kit. another $400 down the drain into this truck. and i’ve come to the conclusion she needs injectors badly. so if i’m doing injectors i’ll do 160ccs and a tune with gauges so there’s another 2k down the drain. i also should really address the rusty cab corners so i’m not sure. thjs is my daily driver; my bmw is what i put more money into as it’s my project/race car but hell, i’ve almost put as much into the truck as the bmw now so it’s kinda concerning.

Hey Dillon, nice truck bud. I have the same but stock 97 F350 4x4. I'm planning on putting 315/70/17. Will it work on a stock f350 and what offset would you recommend?
@460FordBronco793 жыл бұрын
They should fit but you’ll have to trim the front bumper if it’s stock. On that tire you wouldn’t need a whole lot of negative offset to stay out of the leaf springs but if you run a bunch you’ll have to trim your bumper more.

I notice a lot of these 2nd gen Broncos have starting issues when watching videos of them. Is it mostly carb related?
@460FordBronco795 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's all fuel system related in this video. At the time I didn't have enough of a fuel pump to feed the built 429 under the hood and the 750 cfm carter carb wasn't the best choice for steep hills. It worked a lot better once I put a better fuel pump on it though.

Dillon, what year is your 7.3 Powerstroke? Nice video BTW. I've seen the 1994.5 to 1997's in my area from time to time (I live in Central New York), where the only issue is that they've been rusted out completely or falling apart because the Northeastern states are known for rusty vehicles. I have seen solid ones that came from either Texas, California, Florida, or Virginia. But yours is very clean, solid, and rust free. A friend of mine had a 1997 Ford F-250 extended cab with also a 7.3 Powerstroke and a 5-spd with 4:10 gears. The truck's build date was July 1997. He bought it from the original owner a few years ago with all documentation from the Ford dealership. No mods or lift kit (although everyone has their own taste and I am not taking it away), just regular maintenance. He had since then sold the truck (along with documentation) and bought a newer Ram 2500 Quad Cab with the 6.7L Cummins. He had told me that since he bought the Cummins that he regretted selling the Powerstroke because it feels nostalgic, like 1997 again.
@460FordBronco796 жыл бұрын
This one is a 1995. I also have a 1997 that I haven't posted on here as well. The 1997 is pretty much stock other than some easy performance enhancements. It's sad to hear how bad a shape these trucks are usually in where you live. Both of mine are completely rust free because they've been southwest trucks their entire lives. A lot of people from down here are getting a pretty penny selling them back east though for sure. It's hard to beat the feel of these old things. The new trucks are amazing and I absolutely wouldn't mind owning one but I'll always make sure I have an old one around haha.
