Terrific haul lads, we once got a haul like that Seine Netting with a 230hp Gardner engine on the Patch Shoal 80 miles west of the island of Karmoy. Still plenty fish there at certain times of the year, but unfortunately nobody has much Cod quota so hardly anyone goes there. I did hear 2 Danish seiners were in the area for a couple of days over the New Year and caught 1400 boxes of Cod. The big problem in the North Sea now is a lack of boats catching fish and the population of small haddock spiraling out of control. (and Cod) We are now finding the fish are not growing as they should and much thinner than they used to be. a clear sign of starvation. Ironically the fish quota's still get cut year after year. Madness.

I see both sides of the coin. I’m all for people earning a living. But I can remember going out past the island of shoals and filling the bottom of my boat with cod and haddock, now even if I catch any I have limits. It’s sad out there for the avg guy.

Draggers like this need to be banned it destroys the fish populations and the bottoms they lay their eggs on. Did no one learn from Newfoundlands cod collapse!

Around Iceland is a lot of volcanic rocks on the bottoms that cod Lay their eggs on These rocks are sharp and cut our net if we cast on the rocks, also spawning season it’s not allowed to fish cod so cod have a plenty of time to spawn 😁

@@gabrielfisher007 that’s why it’s called flyshooting I’ve done both in the north sea late 1970s and early 1980s. Anchor seiners hitch the end to an anchor pay out the rope drop the net and pay out another rope back to the anchor where they anchor up and start pulling in the ropes on big rope drums until the net comes up. (The boat is static) Fly shooting is nearly the same but with no anchor and the boat goes ahead as it’s reeling in the ropes, typically these boats are larger and use heavier gear than danish Seine netters.(covers more ground)
