The juxtaposition between this and Revenge of MetaKnight’s ending. There, Kirby rides off like the hero he is into the distance, satisfied with stopping Meta Knight’s hostile invasion. Here? Dedede’s rivalry with Kirby is finally put to rest but instead of riding off into the sunset he has no choice but to take a walk of shame all the way back to his castle. At least he’s not alone. Even in defeat his loyal subjects will stay by his side.
