Back in 1997 I'd fish all along the merri creek between the old Kodak factory right up to the big rocking bridge near the vegi farm at Harding st. Used to catch heaps of roach and massive carp but since around 1999-2000 the roach seemed to have disappeared but still catching tones of eels and carp. But seeing you catch roach has made me wanna try again.

Lack of fish is because all the red fin smashing all the juveniles in the lake. Red fin should not be put back where there are natives as well.

As an Englishman living in Australia, I never knew there were roach over here, especially in the rivers. You’ve made my day mate!!! Brilliant video. Anything close to a pound is a huge fish.

Excellent work on the catch and release. Really more should be doing this. So many lakes I’ve fished lately which are pretty much empty due to people eating everything they catch. Complete stupidity

Just wondering what this lake is called?
@tezzaskayakfishing8 ай бұрын
You’re not too bright aye. If you don’t take some Redfin they over populate the water as they are prolific breeders then the whole lake is full of stunted small Redfin as there’s too many fish chasing the same food supply. Before you start spouting you should learn some facts.
@tezzaskayakfishing8 ай бұрын
Secondly if you’re so concerned about releasing fish it’s probably best to not spin them around by their bottom lip and release them carefully instead of just launching them back. Dick.
@lukesfishing49218 ай бұрын
You're an absolute dopey cunt. The big fish eat the smaller ones thinning out the population. You sound like a Redfin expert so you should know that. If you take the bigger reddies they'll all stunt and you'll find the lake will be full of 20cm reddies. Get the fuck off my page sad cunt

Redfin are invasive species and should not be returned to the watwr ways. The people keeping them are actually doing the right thing, you are not. Do not catch and release red fin, they decimate native species. The availability of redfin to catch does not trump local ecology.

Actual reason the fish numbers are decreasing is not by people taking them it's because the lack of food available and the adult fish eating the eggs and juveniles to survive..Taking fish out and reducing the numbers can actually increase the size and numbers in enclosed waterways..Other option is to feed them like they do in fish farms
@lukesfishing4921 Жыл бұрын
That is not true. There is plenty of food in here, as you can see that Redfin are thick and healthy. If there was no food you'd catch a lot of small skinny fish and that's not the case. Also back in the day before a lot of people used to fish here, you'd get multiple fish in the 40s and a heap of other good size fish.
@GeoffreyVerrall-s1s Жыл бұрын
Yes plenty of food, their own offspring..Lesser the competition for food the bigger the fish grow..How many small redfin do you catch, probably very few and I mean small ..None I saw you catch were under 20 cm 1:16 g
