I went to Tillamook high school, 1 semester in fall ‘68 . It rained all the time.

I raced this event. First time I’ve seen this. If I didn’t know better I’d think this was a Monty Python spoof. The NFL was on strike and with little to broadcast CBS sports came to Tulsa. We did not meet the moment

The late Euan Robertson, taken far too early at 47. Had a hell of a European campaign just to make the Olympics, (Qualified 4 times) and finished 6th in the final.

Yes, this video clip is from the 2nd Olympic steeplechase semifinal in Moscow, in July 1980.
@stevedynell3330 Жыл бұрын
Actually, this video clip seems to be of the 1st-round heat or of the semifinal which the late Mr. Malinowski won. After all, in the 1980 Olympic steeplechase final, Tanzania's Filbert Bayi led for at least 2,800 metres (maybe a bit longer), before Malinowski passed him on the final bend, maybe 30 metres before the last water barrier.

Thank you very much for uploading this video clip of the late Bronislaw Malinowski's great Olympic triumph! As you probably know, the entire race is available also here on KZbin, although its video quality is mediocre, and the commentary is in Polish. This Olympic final was Mr. Malinowski's "swan song." He was tragically killed, aged 30, in a car accident in Grudziadz, Northern Poland, on September 27th, 1981.

Tulsa in 1982. What do you expect? Running not really a thing back then.

Excellent footage of the great athlete Bronislaw Malinowski. I remember watching this great meeting from Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh after the Montreal Olympics in 1976. Do you have any footage of the other middle distance races? The two miles race had a great field. 👍

This is ITV's World of Sport presentation rather than BBC and is from 1975. Adrian Metcalfe is one of the commentators, the other sounds a bit like Dickie Davies?

Yes, Dickie Davies.

We got the video from the BBC, so that's why I attributed it to them.

That's great... I love the bit where they decide they're not going to show the full race, then start chatting about the graphics and where they're going to pick it up from!
