That is a nice bed !!! A little history for everyone about the term Hotshot , I am a retired Hotshot Trucker . In my day Hotshot Trucker was a Driver in a big rig that would pick up in a city say Chicago and run directly to the drop off say El Paso without stopping except for fuel . We had a few tricks to accomplish this task . Over the years I noticed the trucks have gotten smaller , there was a time when I noticed many Straight Trucks with sleepers , now I see Dually pick-ups with Gooseneck trailers and it makes me wonder , Does Hotshot still mean driving from a-b without stopping no matter how far ?
@huwrichards901610 күн бұрын
Why not hot dip galvanized the bed before final paint. Steelwork would not survive here in UK, having it galvanised is almost as cheap as painting nowadays, and last a lifetime.

Thanks love this kind of work. I am amazed at how quickly a $500 tool box can be eaten up with rust, poor quality paint, thin metal 16 ga maximum. The list can go on and on. I laugh to my self when I see a piano hinge tack on, guaranteed to be a disaster sometimes less than 2 years. Enough!!! What gauge metal are you using here?

100% chance that truck has had more weight than they expected on it. And I’m glad I saw this before welding on my flatbed this weekend. Pull the negative…
@wickedgarage2 ай бұрын
For sure, def lifted overweight loads, its a HD roll off just a poor design at the main stress point!
@connslvr2 ай бұрын
I agree on the design. It’s sort of odd to me that they didn’t put more plate/gusset on it knowing that these trucks are overloaded as often as they are, but you can see it cracked exactly where you’d expect it to based on that design.
@repoman60342 ай бұрын
Nice fix! Wish my welding looked like that. Based on the stress/failure explanation, seems like going longer with the repair plate towards the front might havebeen a good idea.
@wickedgarage2 ай бұрын
Thanks man! That fishplate should help alot, but its still going to have stress due to the bad design, this should help combat it for a long time.

Well done. Maybe slightly wider tires - at least at the rear for stability - would be useful. I don't know how heavy the loads it will be harnessed to. I saw that the springs were upgraded, but is there a difference in the frame between the F250 and F350 SRW?

Thanks man! This is just a personal weekend mason dump my dad and i built so just scraping, light loads and such! And no difference in frame unless you get a cab and chassis.
