Garner took it as an ancestry question and thought Regina was stupid for not getting it. That's what her staredown and question was about. She seems to see herself as intellectually superior so in that way I guess she is racist.

Honestly, I think there was no ill intention behind it. It sounded like she was trying to understand her parent’s origin. I loved her response of the question, including Sierra Leone. I’m a bit socially awkward at times and know this is a question I would ask and mean absolutely nothing racist or of egregious intent. Maybe I’m wrong but I would’ve asked the same thing of a white person. I’m from Dallas, but my dad’s family is from Greece, so it’s in two different parts and that’s how I see it.

That look on her face revealed the true intentions behind that question. Jennifer G was definitely the villain of this clip. My girl Regina handled herself with style and grace, answering a question that if it were thrown back, the villain probably couldn’t answer

It sounds like weird question but that's assuming you know she's descendent of slaves. It's also possible she's 2nd generation descendant of immigrants? And maybe that's what Jennifer wanted to know. I'm Asian American and when I tell people I'm born here, it's usually followed up by "where are your parents from?"

In total there were only 400,000 slaves in the United States. Today there are roughly 13.8 million African Americans the chances of Ms.King actually being a direct descendant of the 400,000 is slim at best. Most people have no idea where they come from.

The first mistake regina made was being the only black woman there. Why didn't she ask Jennifer where her ancestors came from? American land was once indigenous too. Regina King is American like her. Not African American. Jesse Jackson made up that term and Regina is far off her roots.

I didn’t know this story. But the question was about parents, not ancestors. My ancestors, as well as Regina’s, were slaves from Sierra Leone, Nigeria, etc. She might be my long lost cousin.
