Brilliantly imagined tech set! Yes it’s condensed and must be. No intermission. Wonderful pace. The clever lines (yes there is humor in Lear) - Branagh lets his talented young cast have their day, but he steals it in the end with Cordelia’s body. As WS intended. Never never never never…never. Thank you.

With all due respect: Branagh knows how to act Shakespeare, but he has no clue what Shakespeare was doing with each genre in which he wrote. Cutting so many lines, including the first scene!!, removes the poetic depth of this play. Perhaps this works for reality TV fans, but it's no longer King Lear if we have no sense of his Kingliness.

The worst Shakespeare production I've ever seen. A third of the play is cut. And that's just for starters. Very, very disappointing from a man who is a superb interpreter of Shakespeare's work.

Just read an article about this excellent project on CNN, I had not heard of it before. I love how shw says in the video how she hopes to be here to see it's fruition years later, well, she's 93 and just made a different version of the "Wheatfield" concept! Just too cool darlin! 🙂

the amounts of petroleum products, virgin wood, and cobalt stolen from the Congo makes one have to wonder about the mixed message that is given. granted most people who go will not be giving a second thought to any of these truths and will think somehow the arts community's continuing use of petroleum and electronics to create events that are suppose to "enlighten". it would be comical if it weren't having real world impacts. art can be created without using equipment made with heavy metals and mined by slaves, without petroluem products, without virgin wood. its like the related fashion industry that floods the world with fast fashions made from petroluem, as are the bulk of cosmetics that get washed off and down the drain into the ocean.
