Former 12B here I can say this job is fun but also sucks major cock I was a sapper team leader for the last 2 years I was in and I never worked harder since then. If this interests you I highly recommend getting in the best shape you can and going to a special forces recruiter as soon as possible possible don’t waste to much time on the engineer line platoon life it doesn’t have much to offer outside of the army.

Push-up,sit-ups and run then run some more soon you’ll be doing five mile Battalion runs! Sit-ups are great for your core but benching weight and improving your upper body strength is very important for pushups and carrying your drunk buddy’s back to the barracks!

Joined the Virginia National Guard back in 1998. Went to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri to become a Combat Engineer. Never attended Sapper School but I do have four tours to Iraq 🇮🇶. Recently transferred to the Texas Reserves and still serving.

@@NathanUrielMaico no paid vacation because you only drill once a month unless you are ARG full time. But literally any job that the army has the National Guard does as well but it also depends on what state you live in

I served six years in the NY Army National Guard (1963-1969), did 120 days active, (5), 16 day "summer camps", 296 training drills, activated once for a 'blackout' & got an Honorable Discharge! But, since I & thousands of other, former Guardsmen, didn't serve at least six months of active duty (not including training), we get absolutely "NO" Veteran's benefits, i.e. Health care or burial benefits in a Veteran's cemetery! Think twice, before joining!
