Funny how during the mid 1980s, all three (exclusively) Northern ITV franchises ended up using a black-to-blue gradient with gold 3D logo in their continuity!

The 1990 Broadcasting Act came about when in 1986 Thatcher couldn't destroy the BBC. She set up the Peacock Committee hoping to force the BBC to take commercials and sell off some of their radio stations. The committee poured cold water over her plans, and so she turned her fire to ITV and had the worst outcomes. BBC looked on, as if they escaped a bullet and the person next to them got hit

6:38 - Granada survived thanks to Corrie, the ITC knew with Corrie gone, the whole network could collapse, that is how important it was to ITV then. Also they had big hits such as Sherlock Holmes series, Krypton Factor, World in Action and had a massive back catalogue to sell.

They labelled the second SLL programme shown each week that term with a 'B' but didn't label the first with an 'A' - they certainly did that in subsequent terms and I'm sure they did so in previous terms.

When football was most enjoyable to watch played by English/British players. End to end attacking, goalmouth action, tough tackling etc, unlike today’s boring possession based crap, cheating, feigning injury and hardly a British native in sight. This theme tune is iconic and seeing Brian Moore presenting the programme was great. Truly miss those great days.

Ah yes, Open University; a programme favored by a certain anthropomorphic beagle resident of Wigan, best enjoyed over a bowl of cereal and a copy of "The Republic" by Plato--er, _Pluto._ Though having to put up with a secretly evil penguin manipulating your best friend and trying to drive you out of your own house can certainly put a damper on your enjoyment of it.

Almost heart-aching in the amount of regret this displays. Pope’s words, especially the “And now it’s too late”, the short but deep silence that follows, and final “Goodnight” really make this touchingly somber. And the New Granada Theme also presents a sense of melancholy, especially at the beginning and at the slow-moving very end, equally as heart wrenching as Pope’s words. Truly a beautiful tribute, and I’m from Gen Z.
