Agreed with you on the anti-climactic ending @ERod- although apparently the movie's low budget contributed to it.

DC Comics not copyrighting their properties is arguably their biggest problem after their love-hate with their legacies and history. Shazam really got the short end of the stick because of it.

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra turns 15 today! Made $150 million domestically and $302 million worldwide on a $175 million budget despite negative reviews Channing Tatum openly admitted to hating the film being dragged into it next to Christopher Eccleston and Sienna Miller didn't enjoy the filming process because she wasn't asked to come back for the sequel I actually still find this to be a fun, dumb summer popcorn flick A lot of the modern updates are noticeable from the Joes wearing all black to the inclusions of the Delta Six Accelrator suits to most notably Cobra Commander so that might irk longtime fans Some of the performances could use some work next to the plot and the effects might come off a bit cartoonish But there’s fun action sequences from a chase in Paris to a showdown at an ice fortress, an exciting score by Alan Silvestri, colorful cinematography, some genuine attempts at emotion for the main leads, and it’ll certainly appeal to the 10 year old mindset for the kid in all of us It’s never boring and keeps things fun Sommers also tries to insert commentary on modern warfare, fear being a great motivator, science requiring sacrifice, and modern technology can’t replace pain and trauma Despite the fact this is based on a toy line/comic book and cartoon series it is still escapist fantasy not to be taken seriously I’ll admit it was so much freakin fun! I had a blast it’s non-stop action and thrills remains somewhat faithful to the old cartoon show the movie moved very fast and was exciting my fav characters were Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, and The Baroness It’s all fun, unapologetic campiness to be had thanks to Sommers having a background as an action director

It is so weird that here in New Zealand everyone I have ever talked to loves this movie and thinks It is really good and when I was a Kid everyone in New Zealand thought this movie was great yet when I went online Americans and lots of movie reviews and rotten tomatoes talk about how this movie is bad and is not considered a good movie and I tell People in New Zealand that and they are really surprised and sometimes don't believe Me and they all thought the movie was really good and have never meet anyone who didn't like it I told One Person about how one person online thought Van Helsing was a boring Character and he said anyone who thinks that is a idiot and that Van Helsing was a Awesome Character

To me, the biggest flaw with the film was simply it wasn’t really a Catwoman movie. Yes, there’s a character named Catwoman but It just makes me ask “What was the point of calling this movie ‘Catwoman’?” Aside from being cat-centered and the costume vaguely resembling the character, there’s little about this movie that actually relates to original comics and character. It’s such a mystery why there was a complicated legal battle on using Selina Kyle’s name. Like, you guys are working with a studio who has the rights to Catwoman/Selina! (And from my research, many older drafts MENTIONED Selina Kyle from ‘Returns’ died and had a Batman reference. (And there’s even a photo of Pfeiffer’s Catwoman as an Easter Egg in one scene.) Why make it spin-off? Make it a reboot instead of making your awful ideas off as canon with good movies. So in calling it ‘Catwoman’, did WB think fans of Michelle’s Catwoman or fans of the comics were going to flock to the film simply because it was also called ‘Catwoman’? It’s just one of those really dumb studio choices that got this flick so much hate. In essence, it’s just an artistic/supernatural revenge story, but because they chose to brand it as Catwoman and have a backstory that involves LITERAL catwomen, it became universally hated. You can tell the writers just watched Batman Returns as quick research. The film has more in common with BLACK CAT than Catwoman. They could’ve just called this movie “Patience Phillips” or “Shadowed Destiny” or something stupid like that, made it an original movie, and taken out any connections to cats and the stupid costume, and I can guarantee Halle Berry wouldn’t have gotten a Razzie award. Hell, I mean Entrapment (1999) is a more accurate Catwoman adaptation than this. (Rework that film’s script with DC references and it would be more remembered fondly from fans and viewers, and Catherine Zeta Jones would have still been talked about in heated debates if she was the definitive Catwoman, to this day.) So let me just say this to any writer or filmmakers in Hollywood when making an adaptation. If you fail to understand or capture what you’re adapting a story or series that people love: *CALL. IT. SOMETHING. ELSE.* As seen with Godzilla ‘98, Inspector Gadget, Dragon Ball Evolution or the Mario movie, Branding an existing property with a fan base might backfire and hurt it’s legacy. It will confuse casual people who aren’t familiar with the original and will just anger those who are familiar. There was an original superhero movie called Darkman directed by Sam Raimi, and it was essentially The Shadow set in the 90s with sci-fi, and tragic horror elements. But guess what? It’s not branded as _The Shadow_ and the characters don’t share the names of those comics. It’s an adaptation-in-spirit only. And a hell of a lot better received than if it was a Shadow movie. I actually liked it when Halle Berry was trying to act like a classic Catwoman giving the material she had to work with. She almost did a great job recapturing her sly attitude. I just would’ve rather see the movie work as an original movie that’s an adaptation-in-spirit rather than a title because those that defend it would’ve been better justified for not being a real Catwoman movie.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is 15 years old! This was still my #1 movie of 2009 I know this is universally hated by everyone and is considered a massive step down from the first film There's no denying that there was a writers strike going on, even Michael Bay admitted it was a disaster He and the filmmakers felt the heart was missing big time Yet this still ended up being one of the highest grossing films of 2009 making $832 million worldwide The good; the action and special effects still deliver The animators who did the special effects are to be commended making all kinds of robots whether being super small or giant size I truly love all the new Autobots and Decepticons from Jolt to Arcee to Chromia to Ravage to Devastator to Rampage to Jetfire to Mixmaster to the Doctor to Demolisher The filmmakers do try to go bigger than the original film expanding the mythos even covering the origins of The Fallen from millions of years ago, Tony Todd does wonders voicing the titular villain The score by Steve Jablonsky is still very good Now onto the bad; This movie is 2 and a half hours and most compare it to suffering the same issues as 'Phantom Menace' being it has no real plot There's so many instances of toilet humor and sex jokes it's almost borderline inappropriate for kids Not to mention all the racist stereotypes mainly from voice actor Tom Kenny who plays twins Skids and Mudflap being an uncomfortable throwback to uncomfortable black sidekicks in old film Bay really needed to scale back on the amateurish humor because at times it really is baffling even sophmoric Almost every one of his films makes an appearance plus every line of dialogue leads to a punchline Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson are reduced significantly Perhaps the biggest issue with this film is that it doesn't know what tone to take Bay does deliver the action and explosions but that only goes so far for a lot of script issues Even Megan Fox admitted she hated being in the desert for a majority of the shoot 'Revenge of the Fallen' is a prime example of Hollywood having a lot of money to where it is indulgent, bloated to the point where it is stupid At least it lead to several more movies not killing the franchise entirely

It looks like this reviewer and the entire comment section is utterly wrong and short sighted. This pioneering motion capture went on to dominate the industry to kingdom come. Also it looks great, not bad. One comment said motion capture should "stay in video games." Welp, you certainly DID NOT get that wish either.
