would u recommend this as the only electric guitar for an intermediate who would like to record covers for youtube and wanna show of in small gigs? Or should I get a wooden guitar and a guitar processor ( within the same price )
@DannyPage11 күн бұрын
From my perspective, this is great for teaching as its so convenient to use and sound really good at through the speaker, but much prefer my standard material guitars to play because they feel so good. This guitar feels smooth and is easy to play but will not respond in the same way as a stand construction guitar. The speaker would not be loud enough for small gigs, that is really for general practice and maybe in a small room with a few mates. Using headphones it can sound a tad fizzy for that reason I wouldn't use direct to PA either. I use it daily though for general practice in the house and I so pleased to have one. For you I would recommend looking at the standard guitar setup with a good Amp IR rig to start.

@@DannyPage So what about a Jackson js11 dk and a decent effects processor?
Great lesson as usual but, I can't find the tabs on your "Lick Friday" page. I really like watching your tutorials with the tabs opened at the same time as it seems to help my aging brain remember the notes!!!

Nice duell. I like the sound of the moxie a bit more as it is a bit fuller and has a bit more mids.
@DannyPage15 күн бұрын
Cool. I had the mid switch off on the plexi drive. The moxie is excellent and I wasn’t expecting to have that one as the plexi was the pedal I needed. Left me with a dilemma, so now I have both on the board and use the Belle overdrive like a tube screamer boost.

Thank you for these great licks, that'll keep me going for the next week or so . What is that red Marshall that you have there?
@DannyPage15 күн бұрын
It’s a Marshall Mercury from the 1970’s. I think it was their budget amp of that time. Hybrid valve amp. Mine needs a new transformer as this one went pop!! Great sounding amp with the perfect 70’s tone.

That second lick, no matter who plays it, Clapton, Hendrix, Vaughan, Page ( that's Danny), a big smile comes across my face and im away with the fairies for those few seconds. I've heard it's thousands of times but it still gets me right there.

@@cbcacbca cheers man. Hendrix influence in us all I guess.
@alecfraser192816 күн бұрын
When I was starting out, I didn't bother much with Hendrix because I thought it would be too difficult and I didn't really get the extent to which it was blues-based. Thanks for putting me right only 53 years too late 😉
@DannyPage16 күн бұрын
It took me a while to get into Hendrix. When I started playing I was influenced by bands like Metallica, Bonjovi, guns n roses Joe satriani etc where the playing was produced and technical. I heard a live version of purple haze (I think it was) and it was out of tune, and because of that I didn’t relate to it. I wish I had listened to a studio song first as I would not have lost years of Hendrix influence. Such a great player in many many ways. You now have a great weekend of listening ahead of you….have fun.
@cbcacbca16 күн бұрын
Try learning the lead break from Wind Cries Mary and you'll see it's not difficult but it's an amazing guitar break. Hendrix thought and played outside the box.
@DannyPage16 күн бұрын
Great solo! We had to learn that one at the guitar institute in Acton London as part of a live performance workshop. Great song.
@David.Von.12 күн бұрын
I still think that way: "love Jimi, but not for my lever of guitar playing"
@cbcacbca12 күн бұрын
@alecfraser1928 , although Hendrix used the pentatonic scale, like most rock guitarists of that time, I've never thought of him as a blues guitarist. To me, he went right outside the blues box and created very much his own style of lead and rhythm playing. If you learn the break from The Wind Cries Mary, you'll see what i mean.
@иванпучков-ф2ч16 күн бұрын
tell me, do you specifically analyze the faces that are simpler, more carefully, and then very quickly so that you cannot repeat
@DannyPage16 күн бұрын
Hi, I’m not sure I understand the question to honest. Places, or faces? Or boxes? Either way, working with boxes is a great way to unlock the fretboard and allows you to use the whole fretboard as a soloing playground. However, when soloing I now don’t really think of the boxes as experience with jamming and soloing has created pathways through each box. Hope that answers the question even if just a little. If not please elaborate further..
