@@EntertainmentRebooted I agree. Although, I've seen it the Wicked movie three times with different people each time and at least half of them said (beforehand) that they had never seen the musical and usually they hate musicals....yet, all of them ended up really enjoying it. So, that shows that unless you truly HATE all musicals (no matter what it is), you still might enjoy the overall film/story or emotional experience you'll have.

*Miller's Girl* started out as a loveletter to her muse. The writer asked her what role she wanted to play and she answered "Rhoda Penmark" from the 1956 movie *The Bad Seed.* 👉Penmark is an eight-year-old girl who is charming, polite, and intelligent beyond her years. Beneath her lovable facade, however, she is a psychopath who is willing to harm and even kill anyone to get whatever she wants, whenever she wants it. She is also a precociously talented con artist, adept at manipulating adults. So the movie literally opens with Cairo Sweet narrating *Literature is my solace in the solitude. And writing is my only escape, because, you see, I've never left the edges of this town. It's positively gothic, really. Lonely girl longs to be meaningful. Lonely girl longs to be loved. Books make longing to seem romantic, but it's awful. It's greedy, and I wear longing like a fucking veil.* 🧠From the beginning she admitted to be obsessed with her creative writing teacher and that she needs her longing to have meaning and the only way she believes to achieve this is by consuming/sacrificing him. 🎬The scenes where it's raining & where it's green and gloomy is where she was fantasizing in her head while she's narrating what she wrote on paper to which Mr. Miller jacked off to. I believe *Miller's Girl* to be a woman/young grrl's powerfantasy where the female character has agency and control in the story, rather than being a mere object of male desire. 😉Like Prince said: It's all about *Pussy Control.* Beatrice June Harker: *Vocabulary doesn't make you a writer any more than math makes you a rocket scientist.* 🧠Beatrice's line emphasizes that having a vast vocabulary doesn’t necessarily make one a writer, just as knowing math doesn’t automatically qualify one to be a rocket scientist. The underlying skills-creativity in writing, problem-solving in rocket science-are what truly matter. This line also underscores the importance of creativity, likening it to the “most important sexual organ: our brains.” In other words, it’s not just about knowing the words or the numbers; 🍆it’s about how you use them to create something meaningful or solve complex problems aka xXx. This could be interpreted as a call to value intellectual and creative prowess over mere knowledge accumulation & the physical body. 🎥This would've been a perfect movie if it was directed by Paul Verhoeven, who directed *Showgirls* a movie with complex societal themes. Verhoeven tried to expose how hypocrite our society really is; cauz sex sells & sometimes people do sleep to the top, especially in showbiz. Except nobody wants to admit this, especially pre-Harvey Weinstein. Unfortunately the movie tanked, which cauzed the downfall of the career of it's leadactress Elizabeth Berkley. The movie flopped because the American audience didn't understand *Showgirls,* for the same reason *Starship Troopers* was misunderstood. 🙏Let's hope Jenna Ortega's career won't suffer the same fate as Elizabeth Berkley's. Nevertheless *Miller's Girl* is an excellent movie for 1st time director/writer Jade Halley Bartlett.

There is a loy of thought put into the story. If there had been more time to explain or if it more clearly defined some of the loose ends (a big issue is its lack of grounding for general audiences). In a one time viewing its easy to get lost and it can be overly subtle. The direction visually was good. But the film could not overcome its unsettling story points. Jenna Ortega has done good work in enough projects that one misfired film shouldn't derail her career. This is one of those films i didnt personally enjoy, but I can see where it can be a cult classic (like midsommer, excellent story and stunning visuals, however as a theology student its unsettling peoples obsession with it (its such a well put together cult that many people who have watched it dont realize a fake cult was put together SO WELL an audience could fall for it as a triumphant story rather than the absolute horror it expertly creates. (GOOD film, personally didnt enjoy it). Thank you for your comments though, love seeing folks passionate about films!
@TrickyD8 ай бұрын
🎞I would classify Miller's Girl as an erotic horror movie, a modern retelling of the classic fairytale *Red Ridinghood* where the wolf is clearly identified as the antagonist from the beginning. However, in this movie Cairo is seen as the ‘wolf’, which blurs the lines between protagonist and antagonist, making the narrative much more intricate and thought-provoking. 👉 *Miller's Girl* could be seen as a modern cautionary tale, warning of the dangers of deception and crossing boundaries.
@EntertainmentRebooted8 ай бұрын
Yes! erotic and gothic horror. Its an interesting tale. And cautionary for the audience. However anything as small as an explanation or true closing would have greatly benefited this film. Its just too vague and ungrounded for me personally. Again thank you for your comments!

@EntertainmentRebooted10 ай бұрын
Personally a fan of the franchise. They're dumb fun. Honestly the lack of the furious five isn't that big of a deal. It is a very streamlined and straight forward film, seems like they cut out the fat for this film. As a result if they had been included the film would have floundered, been 20 million dollars more, for only five to ten minutes of film. Pleasantly surprised, considering the trailers. Thanks as always for your thoughts!

I was worried it would be overhyped for me, because I didn’t love the first part. This movie blew me away on every level! It is a spectacle of effects, it is was enthralling with its story and characters, and developed this world even more. A masterclass in sci-fi filmmaking. I was floored. It also flew by for me as well, it was paced to near perfection. Great review! Keep making videos 👍
@EntertainmentRebooted10 ай бұрын
It is a very well put together film. Definitely a spectacle. The longer we are away from the film I believe our "dragging" complaint may be due to a mixture of our going to a later showing, DJs working overtime all week, and John having to sit next to a stranger at the theater (who apparently didnt shower (why do the weirdos who buy the random single seat between two groups of strangers in a half full theater ALSO lack proper hygiene?)) Thanks for your comment and continued support!

It drags? Damn Tik Tok generation, attention span of a gold fish, get off my lawn. Now where did I put my spectacles?
@EntertainmentRebooted10 ай бұрын
Its more a matter of theres clear sections of filler. Its has much more in it than the first part. But beyond some "slow burn", theres a lot of extended holds and such that begin to feel excessive at certain points. Its classic "thinking sci fi", which makes it hard to adapt to film. Dune is mostly world building so you get lost in thought while reading it. Hard to put that on screen. Thanks for your thoughts!

Specifics PLEASE! Every comment was general. Reminds me of the book reports I wrote in school, when I didn't read the book.
@EntertainmentRebooted11 ай бұрын
What Specifics are you looking for? The movie in and of itself is very confused and vague. Which is our main critique, that the movie attempts to be as open ended and unclear on reality around its main "conflict" (did Mr. Miller partake in a sexual relationship or fantacize about one with his "gifted" student) as possible to force the audience to essentially "put it together". It is difficult to summarize an entire film in less than 30 minutes, especially one thats as vague and confusing. The "uncomfortableness" is the audience is essentially forced to witness oversexualized barely legal teenagers trying to seduce their much older teachers, leading to Mr. Miller jacking it in a shed reading his students leud mid-term, then come off as nothing short of guilty in an interview that leads to a full blown hearing (which he is flippant about despite the CLEAR ramificatilns), and it closes outside the school district building and the two make eye contact. Some shots are great (in particular angles and character staging properly symbolizing such things as "power/control" (a ahort teenager suddenly moves up a step and appears taller and more threatening mid conversation as her monologue turns on the teacher), the story is meh, and there are specific lines that are emphasized to the point it feels the scriptwriters made the film BECAUSE of how much they liked those lines that come out of nowhere and dont truly lead anywhere. it feels like a high school book most people barely read DUE TO it being so vague and pretentious. Thanks for the comment and feedback, what specifically do you think would help us in future videos? What specifics or details would help us make better reviews?
@RavensOsFan8911 ай бұрын
It seems you all enjoyed it enough. The music and acting was good. I don’t really agree with only showing 2 years of his life for those like myself that know nothing about him but, I’ve seen others that were fine with that so I guess it’ll vary.
@EntertainmentRebooted11 ай бұрын
Yes the 6 was not because John didnt enjoy it. His score system is above a five was enjoyable. 5 is a true neutral, and below 5 is not enjoyable. We agree. Though that 2 year period was extremely important, it would have been much better to explain Bob Marleys life a little more. Bob Marley fans will love it, but its not necessarily a great "introduction" to him. Thanks for your thoughts! Hope you enjoyed the review!

@EntertainmentRebooted11 ай бұрын
You are absolutely right! For such a small cast, we had a clear "main character", but all of the supporting characters were so wishy-washy it was hard to really root for one side or the other. They should have spent a little more time developing and fleshing out the characters. Also what little we know of our main characters is "this is useful to explain something specifically for plot later". The deaths/tension lost impact due to how little they developed characters. "American 1 is idealistic (but comes off willfully ignorant to danger), American 2 is a jerk who's wife and kids left, and is quick to violence, Russian 1 is a "party man" and does whatever he's told with no emotion" Russian 2 is in love with American 1 for some reason. Russian 3 is a vague guy to make him a question mark." Thanks for the comment! Hope you enjoyed the review!
