What's the overall ambient temperature in your reptile room during winter time? Do your Rosy stop feeding during winter time or do they feed through all season?
@creaturecove12 күн бұрын
I close off the reptile room and run a heater in there during winter, so the ambient temp is always 75°f. I offer food all through winter as I have not been brumating them. Most continue to eat consistently, while 1 or 2 of them will eat every other feeding or so.

Hi!!! Thanks for mentioning where you're from. I love that! Yes, for a first-timer, I will always recommend a ball python or a male rosy boa. I love them both equally. They have different care requirements, so sometimes it's easier to go off of that. Rosys need lower humidity levels, while pythons need higher humidity levels. Their body types are also completely different. Ball pythons are a thick bodied snake with some heft and girth to them. Rosys are a more slender stream lined snake. Not as much bulk to them. Both of them move pretty slow as far as snake movement goes. Let me know if you have any other questions about them!

Like mother like son lol. Spicy. If they are docile as babies so they generally remain that way as adults and like wise spicy as babies spicy as adults?
@creaturecove12 күн бұрын
I have not found that to be true actually. You'd think so, but most of the babies get over those initial threat poses pretty quickly after a few handling sessions. Unfortunately, I have seen a correlation between docile babies and not being good eaters though. The spicy babies usually eat right away and consistently for me.

Something that is commonly overlooked is that if you have found eggs and it is the same day or a couple after the veins and blood vessels might not fully be developed. A great rule in the hobby is to incubate until no debate
@kyro312714 күн бұрын
Example being if you have a crested gecko and they lay 2 clutches and the 2nd clutch hatches and the first clutch doesn't have much movement or any activity in the egg it's safe to say that there's no life

We saw the ring/eclipse, but the way they were found, we’re not positive if they were rotated or not….the ring should be on the top of the egg, correct? I’ve struggled finding confirmation on this for creators. I know snake & cham egg info lol. Thanks in advance for your help!
@creaturecove3 ай бұрын
Congratulations!!! Fortunately, crested gecko eggs are not as finicky as other reptile eggs. We have had a few accidents with ours in the past, and they have survived perfectly. One time, I was rehydration the substrate that all the eggs were in, and my husband didn't see them on the counter. He put his stuff down right on the lid of the container and sent all the eggs flying across the room. I was sure I'd lose them, but every single egg hatched with a perfectly healthy baby! I do put the ring on top when I incubate them though.

I have a question of you have time to read it- I’ve never owned a snake and don’t know people who own snakes, but I’m looking for a snake to keep me company off at college next year, so think like a dorm/small apartment situation. I’m kinda looking for a snake that is chill, mellow, and doesn’t move around all that much, while still having some personality. Kinda looking for a companion type snake, one that would be content to just chill on my lap, around my neck, or maybe on a desk/bed while I study or work. I’ll have a fairly busy schedule, but definitely have at least 30 minutes a day to spend handling a snake, and doing weekly upkeep (such as feeding, cleaning, anything a snake would need- I’ll do more research on specific requirements once I narrow down the species). I was looking at Rosy boas, but I’m a bit deterred by their reputation of being a bit bitey. I don’t want a snake that is too narrow bc I’ve always been scared of losing a snake lol. But also ideally nothing too long, but the size of a small ball python is fine. Any advice?

I would definitely do either a make rosy or a ball python. Rosys are a great dorm pet due to their smaller size, therefore smaller enclosure needs. But ball pythons are super amazing as well. They would be more likely to just chill around your neck and keep you company.

The snake plant lasted the longest of all the plants, but I think most of them died because of the high humidity and low sunlight exposure. Do you have any recommendations for non-toxic plants that can withstand that enviro? thx so much and keep up the amazing work with your vids :)))
