Done right the swb 911 s is valuable. This will eventually get sorted out There is plenty of resale value. Your engine looks good. ! I have a 911S 68 5 speed gearbox in nice shape in my 66 912. I’m eventually selling the drive train as I plan on updating to Ev. Tesla motor direct to rear axles. If your customer needs a 911S tranny one day. Call the shop it will be for sale

If you have no lift, is it easier to replace the clutch this way than from underneath?
@marlonbeckett31737 ай бұрын
No. Just drop transaxle and pull torque tube back and remove bell housing and your there. You can do it on jack stands. (I think he had the bell housing off anyway)
@marlonbeckett31737 ай бұрын
Sorry, I was wrong. He just unbolted the bell housing and pulled the motor right out. But there are a lot more steps to pulling the motor than dropping the trans and all that. But if you pull the motor out, then you’ll know how to do that. So it’s a win win no matter what you do.

So can I remove the cover and try to shake the secondary shaft and see if it has play like that? I guess I'm asking is there an easier way to check for this without pulling the center section and ring gear?

I usually see people removing them from the bottom, speaking of removing the engine, wouldn't you have to remove all the other parts that are connected the engine such as the transmission, or the fans? You make it look so easy!

It’s a trans axle...I.E, trans is in the back of car.

Your an amazing tuner with cars albert! From what im seeing, your working on the crankshaft, but whats the probem? And what causes it?
@albertbroadfoot7165 жыл бұрын
Hi Chase, thank you. I have worked thousands of Porsches in my 38 years of Porsche repair and race car construction, and have only seen this a few times. I personally believe it is from people who change their oil and push in the clutch while starting the engine, before it gets oil pressure. Pushing in the clutch pulls the crank rearward, applying much pressure to the front face of the crank trust journal surface and front of trust bearing. When this happens there is 0 clearance for oil to flow through while trying to build oil pressure on dry start. Also people who get caught in traffic every day resting their foot on the clutch pedal whole creeping foreword for two hours. The combination of the two will destroy the crank and bearing. My advice... after doing oil change, start the engine in neutral with clutch pedal OUT, and let oil pressure build. If caught in traffic, try to keep putting the transmission in neutral as much as possible with the clutch out.

Did you have to remove any of the suspension/cross member to make room to slide it forward and off the torque tube?
@77magnuss3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the oil pan will hit the cross member and you can’t get it forward enough to get off torque tube...ask me how I know.

did you remove the ridiator to pull it out from the top ?? you made it look much easier than people are making it seemed to be..
@77magnuss3 жыл бұрын
You have to at least remove the fans, OR, disconnect torque tube from the rear, which basically requires removing the transaxle. I wouldn’t recommend unless you were pulling the transaxle anyway. So you need the space in front of the engine to slide off torque tube. Engine has to come forward a good 6-8 inches...

You are a 12 year old basement dweller. Who the F#ck cares what you think. I have been repairing Porsches for 38 years. Have repaired thousands of them Built over 300 engines. Entered my own cars in the Rolex24 six times. What have you done? Played video games your who life?

@albertbroadfoot7166 жыл бұрын
Mad? Why? This is my car, and I am parting it out. The chassis went to the crusher. This video is simply showing that the engine can easily be remove from the top. I have owned over 70 Porsches, so pretty sure I know what I am doing. Thanks for the input.
@three36ixx6 жыл бұрын
regardless of how seasoned you are, treat the paint on the hood with some respect. "owned" over 70 Porsches? that's not ownership. no need to brag, i could care less. regardless of the bickering, thanks for showing that the engine can be removed from the top. if you're parting out the car you could've saved that hood.... bang up job, literally. use your head ;)

After building hundreds of 944, 951, and 911 engines throughout the 36 years of being in business, this is the first time anyone has ever started a law suit. I have always stud behind my work and have always worked with my customers through any type of situation. This customer has also threatened to sue Lindsey Racing, Extrudehone, Royal Purple, Woosner Pistons, Evergreen Turbo, and others. The car was tested and Dyno tuned by the best Steve Masson at Mase Engineering and was perfect in every way when it left my shop. The 555+HP engine had no warranty expressed or implied as with any performance or race engine, and the customer knew that when he was given the initial estimate. There are also other factors not told by this customer. This is a Witch Hunt! I feel very sorry for the next shop who works on this guys car, as her will NEVER be happy, and he will be bad-mouthing them next! Any and all shops beware!

Well things are NOT looking good with Braodfoot........After sending car back for the 2nd time ! Due to to when we received it the 1st time supposedly done ....Car barely ran, and oil was leaking all over the floor. Did not even get to drive the car. So we shipped it back next day. We were told give him 2 weeks . Well 4 months later we are texted the car is done. After such a bad experience , with this company we decided we should get an independent porsche company to look at the car to make sure it is what it is suppose to be. We had the car shipped directly to the shop, again we did not even drive it. So we would not be blamed for anything. The company did a couple of small checks for us and this is what they found so far. 1st. metal in oil filter, two companies verified that this is not normal and can be very detrimental to the engine. 2nd. We have low compression on one cylinder. 3rd. They put a bore scope in the cylinders and said it looks like someone tried to scrape of carbon on the top of the pistons. They also said by looking in the cylinders , this motor has a lot more miles on it than 150. The motor is going to be opened up to be looked into. I would like to thank Broadfoot for there insults of my family while they were building the motor and the wonderful communication. We were communicated thru text messages, they dont believe in using a phone. I don't want to say how much money we have invested, but this was one expensive piece of shit.............. Cant wait to see what the motor looks like on the inside. I should have looked into this company before I contracted them out. It is all over the internet about what they do to people. They have threaten me with slander suit , if I say anything. From my reseach I have found they do this to all there dissapointed customers. Instead of trying to do the right thing they just try to run away. Not this time. I will see them in court. Unfortunately it is going to take a while, until the motor is opened up to see what else is going on ..... Please be careful with this company...... By the way this is FACT, I have documentation and oil samples from independent companies....
