Did they kill her ghost with dry ice? I thought i watched it but if her son evaporated im thinking that is not how i consciously seen ever though im coherent. Ill have to barrow the vhs film but I'll definitely find someone other than that that i barrowed from. I dont dont live in that town chances are the individual is gone.

Now this was absolutely terrifying! I watched this years ago when i was in my teens. No gore, no regurgitated predictable jump-scares, just a damn good horror movie that will stay with you for years.

What actually makes this movie more terrifying than the movie itself is that these events taking place in the movie actually happened to this woman in real life ....great movie though first time i saw it had nightmares for a week

The movie was based on a woman..Doris Bither... who lived in a condemned house with her children. Bither was an alcoholic and had mental problems. Although she did bring in Parapsychologists to help her, and they took pictures and recorded strange occurrences in the house like odd light movement and other odd things...they over exposed the film..pretty much close to destroyed their recordings. I think Bither imagined most of her claims being she was an alcoholic. Alcohol withdrawal can cause hallucinations. A great movie. Severely embellished.

I saw this in the movie theater when it first came out and it scared the crap out of me. IMO it’s right up there with the most scariest of movies, but I’m surprised I’ve never seen it replayed on tv during Halloween season with all the other horror movies.

in my opinion, its the most underrated horror flick I can think of. You never see or hear it listed with the greatest horror movies...but its right there. I read the novel a few yrs before the movie was made. I was a sci-fi geek...and was still reeling from seeing 'Jaws' and 'Close Encounters"..and then WHAM!..here comes a movie about a woman being raped by something she couldnt see. My mind was blown..and I never forgot this movie. What I remember most, was how scary the book was, even when I was reading it in broad daylight.

I haven't seen this movie in a very long time. It might seem stupid to me now. But as a kid in the 80's this scared me, the invisible entity along with the music...and then that ending. I miss movies where more is left to the imagination instead of 150% just grand expensive computer effects.

I saw this I think for the first time in my teens and it freaked me out completely. Never forgot Barbara Hershey either or that eerie soundtrack. I watched it again on video years later, when I was 24, because I hoped I could deal with it easier or it wouldn't freak me out as much. I was wrong. I went to bed that night afraid that lightning flashes and bolts would appear above me. Barbara Hershey has never received the fullest credit for her performance in this that she has always deserved. Her career has been amazing and in this, she is unforgettable. Again, the music and direction are phenomenal. I have it on blu ray. I love it, for the atmosphere, for its creepiness and for Barbara herself, but I hate that entity. How are you supposed to fight something like that? Apart from that of course, it's based on a true story. I really hope the real Carla Moran today is still alive and doing better.

And they wonder why GenX kids are tough…. It’s because of movies like this and the Exorcist!!! We were feral little things and watched stuff we were WAY too young to watch when our parents weren’t around. This movie scarred me for life. I’m 55 now and can still see her skin being pressed in by unseen hands!

Rubbish 🗑 for starters theres no such thing as a poltergeist so its impossible to believe. You may aswel watch ghostbusters as least it doesn't take a stupid subject seriously. 👻 i mean honestly since the invention of video cameras approx 45 years ago still nobody has any evidence that anyone other than the halfwitted would believe. Watch the invisble man modern remake now thats a proper movie. I did think the entity was good when it first came out but then i thought a austin maestro MG was good too. Theres a lot better movies around from the decade this was realeased and every decade after and before so only watch it if you like paint drying.
