What is the main sound difference between the synthetic TC1 and the calfskin?
@BlackSwampPercussion
@BlackSwampPercussion 2 күн бұрын
The calfskin head will sound a touch drier than the synthetic head. Some players find the synthetic head to offer slightly more resonance but both heads are very similar!

I am curious, whenever I see people play the snare drum like this is it meant to be less stressful on your arms and wrist, like why is she holding it differently in each hand?

It's called "traditional grip" and came about years ago in the battlefield. Had to do with the angle of the drum when carried in the field.
@TheMackths
@TheMackths 2 ай бұрын
Yes, the traditional grip is meant to compensate for the drums tilt back when only rope slings were available. With the morden drumming hardware we have now, there isn’t a real need for it unless the drums get tilted. Which is why it makes me so so so sad to see straight drums these days
