Well spoken, right to the point! Thanks for clearly articulating a just and humane position that gay activists should seriously consider before they unwittingly jump into Israel's pinkwashing bandwagon.

Although Katherine Franke is passionate in her declaration of her views, I still find so many questions and holes in her speech that it's upsetting. She wants us to condone Palestinian cultural conservatism, and the extreme oppression of lgbt people on the Left Bank, in the wake of Israel's problems with Palestinians. The real question is: which powerful, policy-changing Palestinian political organization has recognized Israel's right to exist? Please answer that, Katherine.

There are so many inaccuracies in her speech that I'm not sure where to begin. Al Qaws operates in Israel, not Ramallah. Palestinians and other Arabs are offered asylum in Israel, and the spouse/partner of a Jew/Israeli is eligible for citizenship, even a Palestinian. Her comments about gender segregated buses in Jerusalem are a misunderstanding of the situation; some Hasidim were trying to force gender segregation on public buses, but it's illegal and drivers will be fined for allowing it.

If only everyone could speak so clearly as you do. Your points are well taken. Complexity is often used as a cover for Israel to avoid explanation. In your presentation you explain the situation in specifics so that we can all appreciate that it truly is complex, the word follows naturally from what you've said before mentioning it. Thanks for taking the time to make this obviously sincere and effective presentation.
