How long did it take you to finish the 500 miles of the trail. Great video

Thanks! I started on April 1st and finished on May 4th, 2022. That said, I’d already hiked the Ocean To Lake, Florida, and Pinhoti trails earlier that year, so I was in good shape by the time o got to the Palmetto Trail.

Hi Thanks for the video. I have a question, where did you sleep in New Brunswick and Maine? I'm planning an iat thruhike next summer northbound from Maine to Quebec. In FarOut there is no refuge on the map. Are you sleeping on the side of the road? How did you plan this?
@outandabout53Ай бұрын
Stealth-camped And that’s AWESOME! you’re gonna hike the IAT! Feel free to ask any questions!
@micbernier6403Ай бұрын
@@outandabout53 Thank you, in fact I plan to do the AT+ Maine + NB and Quebec. I actually have other questions :) Stealth-camped, did you sometimes have trouble finding a spot to sleep? What percentage would you say is allowed to do Stealth-camping? How many days did it take you to do each Maine, NB and Quebec? Did you have any difficulties? Advice to give me? Did you have any problems with resupplies? Thanks
@outandabout53Ай бұрын
@micbernier6403 most of ME & New Brunswick were stealth-camping. I really can’t remember how long it took to go through each place but we averaged about 25 miles/day (so I guess add up the sections and divide by that). Resupplies were fine but we did have to adjust what we were eating due to availability in Canada. The carries weren’t bad; I think the Matane, in Quebec, was the longest food carry and that was only 6 days.
@outandabout53Ай бұрын
@micbernier6403 all stealth-camping is not allowed 🚫 and must be done, well, stealthily. So, I’d say 0% of the stealth-camping was allowed. The more tired you get the less picky you become at finding a spot, but always be safe & smart about it. I really can’t remember how many days it took to do each section: my friend and I were averaging about a marathon a day though. Resupplies were pretty minimal at times but there were definitely some good grocery stores in some spots (but you definitely cannot rely on all the same foods you can easily get in the US). Hope that helps

@outandabout53 My group winter camps, but I don't think I want you to be that isolated out in this cold. I like that you did the Duluth section as most people skip it, most likely due to sleeping logistics, but I like it so far. I think it's something you can't miss. I've heard a few skip from Martin Road to Gooseberry as it's boring and only in the woods with no views. The time you did it, the colors were your view. Oh yeah, a friend of mine said he gave you a hitch to trail days this year. HeadNorth Mike McKay!! He is a great guy!!

@outdooradventureswithshane3319 heck. Yeah! Head North is dope! Honestly, I loved walking through Duluth.
