As a steel player myself that sounds more like a cheap keyboard synth. No offense to your design but it wouldn't cut it for my pedal steel group.

Jeff, Mitchell Smithey from MSA Steel Guitars here. I had a chance to briefly sit down with the one Travis brought to the Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree in March and was quite impressed. I would love to talk with you about this wonderful machine of yours. I’m at extension 107 at the shop if you ever want to chat.

This is amazing, ive been thinking of making something very similar with a 10 string trigger system and a ribbon sensor ,for the slide on the neck. And not sure yet on pedals and knee levers. Im thinking of using arduino uno with a sparkfun sheild for midi or daw. I am no good at the programming. I need help with a super simple drag and drop software. What did you use? As far as microcontroller and sensors and software. Anything you can share. I just want one for myself its not a business idea

Sorry, The sound is not something I like,but,the pitch bending is interesting. Keep at it. I am not sure if the slightly overdriven sound is how they should be demonstrating a new take on a classic sounding instrument. I am all for new,so I will keep an open mind. Sam Australia 🇦🇺

The whole idea here is you can make any sound you want with it. There are virtually no limits.

Hope you actually can get this produced. The mechanical pedal steel is due for a modern tech update that can just sound and feel just as good but get rid of the mechanical nightmare of the underbelly.

a brilliant concept. I’ve thought on pedal steel as a predecessor to synths with its form of sustain. this is exactly the concept I would want to hear. Brilliant, I would buy this in a heart beat.

Possibly the answer to cabinet drop, tuning strings and pedals, double necks, bad backs from heavy rigs and changing strings. I’ve probably missed a couple, this looks so awesome!
@JeffSnyder13 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, it's definitely designed to address those things :) It's not really an exact replacement for a pedal steel, since it's really a synthesizer and has it's own kind of sound, but I'm hoping steel players will be interested in it!
