@@mervijaakola1749 I'm not fluent in Korean too so everything in this video is automatically translated by Google unfortunately... However, I've tried my best to fix the grammar and spellings, but I've done that only for the first 2-3 minutes of the lecture. I will continue to fix the translations sometime soon!

@@kennyselamatan Thanks you for replying. It is definitely a long video so i understand that if you try to translate it, it is very much work. I truly appreciate your translation what you have done for the beginning part of the video. I have watched half-way and it is totally understandable even if it is only an automatic translation! At least I think I have been able to comprehend everything sufficiently - i only wish i could understand Korean myself!

Translation still in progress! I don't speak Korean at all, so this will be purely a rough translation according to Google translate and my "contextual clues" intuitions. If you do speak Korean, feel free to point out some correction mistakes. I'd be happy to correct them and credit you! :)

his german is excellent on many levels. a true reverence for the language comes through his choices of words. Am deeply touched by what he says and how he expresses and conveys it. - the translation doesn't quite capture those nuances/subtleties. for e.g. at the start of the video 0:28 he says: "um dem Leben zu dienen" - (to serve life / to be of service to life) yet the translation reads: 'to begin living' . So much is getting lost in translation .

It's funny how this so-called philosopher implies that being forced to give to government 40% of your income is a capitalist or neoliberal thing. When people have to work extra hours because they have to feed their parasitic governors, it's obvious those people will live tired.

This is something of a kind you only come across seldom. An eye opener. It popped up after I saw a vid on 'the burnout society'. Definetely going to delve deeper into this, as I'm sensing and despising the shackles of what's called 'modernization' (with that aweful 'handy' ball upfront) more and more.
@SINC0MENTARI0S9 ай бұрын
This ideology is quite misleading. Leftists keep blaming neoliberalism for all the evils of the world notwithstanding that very few countries are neoliberal. Tax rates in Germany, South Korea, France, the UK, Japan, and so many countries are way too high, so high that blaming neoliberalism makes no sense. By taking half of your income, government deprives you of so much freedom because taxation drastically reduces the range of options you could otherwise afford. I'm sure Byung Chul Han has heard of North Korea, where population is starved and stumped on by its communist dictator. Is this left-wing philosopher also going to blame neoliberalism for what's going on there?

[CORRECTIONS AND NOTES] I thank the user @TheMultiBaby for telling me that what Han said in 4:18 was in fact "Selbstüberschreitung", not "Selbstüberschätzung" as I had translated it in the video. This makes more sense because Selbstüberschreitung means "a going beyond, or exceeding of the self that is made possible through Eros, through eroticism". MORE CORRECTIONS: Thanks to user @martinb3483 for graciously pointing out that: 0:27 "...dem Leben zu dienen" -> "...to serve life" Instead of "...to begin living." (my initial translation). 3:13 "...verlernen wir möglicherweise, den anderen zu streicheln" -> "...we possibly unlearn to caress the Other." Instead of "we might possibly forget to enhance it in others." [Original Description] I tried my best to translate and capture Han's poetic style into English but it's not perfect as my German is still poor. If you guys speak German please don't hesitate to comment which parts seems unfit or inaccurate, I'll add the corrections in the description and give you credit. I struggled with how to translate Verausgabung in 4:11 so it'd be nice if you guys suggested a better translation. Discussions and thoughts are much appreciated!

Hey Kenny, thank you for your translation! There's just one little thing I wanted to add: I don't think he says "Selbstüberschätzung" - I think he says "Selbstüberschreitung", so a going beyond or an exceeding of the self that is made possible through Eros, through eroticism :)
