There's something oddly compelling to me about a peaceful existence in a lovecraftian universe. The Dreamlands are almost like Lovecraft's own version of Wonderland or Oz.

When I first bought GW1 more than a decade ago, I was fortunate to get a copy with the soundtrack disc. I used to study listening to it.

This game was the perfect storm for me. I still play it from time to time. A true masterpiece.

Playing 2 gives me an appreciation for the music of the first.

What would Alexander even find.. waiting for him? I suspect only misery and loneliness. His wife would no longer love the man he became. Alexander murdered that man slowly over centuries. Not just by experience in our alien world but by his crimes. They stain the soul. They stain your character. Who you are.

When I made my first toon and loaded in the game I was floored by the artwork, soundtrack and the cool people that I was playing with. I never played an online game before and thought "This is a long way from my old Intellivision games"

Daniel really is a great character. His story follows the hero's journey formula. A regular man who has uncontrollable circumstances force him to leave his home and go to Brennanburg. Throughout his adventure he overcomes his fears of the dark and monsters and even his own crushing remorse. He could have just left Brennanburg after drinking the amnesia potion but he chose to redeem himself, even though a higher power didn't ask him to. He chose to simply to right his wrongs. He overcame all the odds against him and emerged victorious (assuming you chose his ending) and walks away from Brennanburg a changed and stronger man.

...and nothing of value was lost.

Really fits with Amnesia. and makes me regret choosing Alexander's ending.

First minute made me rethink my life

Imagine before you died you did something completely selfless and you hear this song and feel cold feeling but not bad like when its hot day and you feel that wind and around you falls roses and youre on mountains in China. And you feel the clean air and feeling inner peace and extremely good feeling. I hope after death is similar. And I hope everybody gets this after death.

It is not lost unto me that the song is done in piano which Alexander can play. It is seen in a flashback I believe when you near a piano.

This song gives you the guilt that you let the true monster escape and sacrificed Daniel to do so, right before Daniel is consumed by the shadow you can hear him begging for mercy just like the vitae producers. Then the games shows that this is a ending that is not a ending at all... it’s a nightmare
