How did you come up with all the equations for the procedural masks? Did you get them from some textbook, or was it trial and error?

I didn't know you could use other selection tools to create a selection for the Patch tool! That's terrific!

Thanks, brilliant, I had the problem of MetallicSmoothnes textures (smoothness was the alpha channel) but Godot using MetallicRoughness, So I needed to Invert the Alpha. Now my Models look as glossy as I intended them to be. Thanks.

What a ridiculous method of creating a layer !!!! In PS and PSP you just make a marquee and press a keystroke !! The fact that i'm having to watch KZbin videos just to find out how to do basic things, is infuriating.

I have seen lots of photos of landscapes where the green tones (grass and leaves) look so saturated to me as to be positively weird. Is the camera recording the green saturation incorrectly, or are our eyes so sensitive to green tones that we just perceive green as highly saturated?

You forgot to say that the reason for the live filter (or smart object, which is how it's called in newer versions) is that you can then after picking the blending mode go and tune the high-pass filter radius on the fly to get a better result

It's not your fault. It's Serif's fault for trying to pack too many different operations into dragging on the layer stack: "...above the line..." "..below the line..." "drag onto name..." "drag onto icon..." "drag onto bar..." Each of these can produce a different result and I find it impossible to remember which drag operation produces which result. And with V2 you now have linked layers with their own subordinate layers, which is even harder to figure out. It would have been just fine to have the Arrange menu with operations like "Create clipping mask" and "Create child layer" and so on, with the "scope" of the layers in the layer stack shown with icons or letters indicating "clipping mask" or "child layer". Also a colored arrow showing which layer is linked to which other layer. Certainly a novice would find "Create clipping mask" easier to understand than "above the line" and "below the line"

Well i may as double up your comments section. When using the brush tool points of overlap double the density and make for uneven shadows. How do we set the brush so that an brush overlap is the same density. Even dropping the layers opacity to 30% does not work. Adding wet edges to the brush helps but its still increases density on points of overlap not by much but it is noticable. Any advice most welcome.

I'd like to save some of my gradient maps, but if I click on the adjustment button on the bottom (between the mask and fx button) my saved gradients are not there. I understand that if you click on "adjustment" on the toolbar (yours is next to layers, effects and stack on the right just below the opacity slider) you can see saved gradient maps. How do you get "adjustment" to appear on that toolbar? It's not there on my user interface and I can't seem to find a way make it appear. I know it's easy - can you help me? Thanks - I love gradient maps but would like to save them for batch photos, etcs. Thanks for your amazing videos!!!

Fantastic, thanks so much for sharing. I will be looking to create an authentic 2-strip colour representation on my 1930s style artwork. Your video is by far the most informative that I’ve come across. I was having trouble figuring out why Red and Green were looking so much like Cyan and Magenta in my research!

The Kodachrome 64 had wonderful colors. With digital the colors are disgusting and dull. We are going backwards instead of moving forward, sad times.

I have a 10" tablet, which I prefer over my laptop, due to portability. If I open an image, above the image the name will reflect, Untitled.jpg for example. The bar with the name, goes to the very right hand side of my desktop. The right hand functions is laying lower or over it, but if over, I cannot see the x to close the image. In version 1 the line of image name or several if more than one image are open, only extend to the beginning of the right hand side op function panels (colour wheel, layers, etc.) How can I get version 2 of Affinity Poto to do the same as version 1?

This is nice, I thought about it in theory on how I would create a negative image using curves and/or a gradient map. Using the curves, what I pictured was a straight horizontal line in the luminance value which give you a gray layer - instead of making full inversion like yours 😂. Maybe I should start to put theory into practice 😅... I wonder how the gradient map will go, a non-pixel based inversion that's my aim...
