I'm sorry for this poor guy but he has his priorities wrong. In his situation I would be more worried for my "soul". Uncle Vitja is either mislead by propaganda and went to war due to misguided patriotism. In this case maybe he has to think hard about it because there will be a day when it will be asked why he supported an indiscriminate war against all Ukrainians (incl. civilians) and ignorance is a lame excuse. Or uncle Vitja went to war maybe out of poverty to be able to provide for his family. Which is sad but that doesn't change the fact that he took money to take part in the SMO and at least indirectly facilitate murdering Ukrainians. So I pity his situation but he shouldn't have taken any part of this. I've never been to any such situation personally, but I would like to believe that I would rather go to a gulag than serve a mad dictator's imperialistic dreams and war crimes. And at least for me, I would probably have many more nightmares about how I ended up in the war than how my family abandoned me.
