One comment I made about being related to Morse and The Seth Thomas Family: It all boils down to being related to a Man from Plymouth Mass. John Lathrop..... Many people, especially, those who have Mayflower Ancestors, are related to Lathrop, even though he was not a Passenger... With that connection, you will be related to many people.... George Bush, Sarah Palin, Amelia Earhart, Clint Eastwood, General Grant, the list goes on.🙂🙂🙂

It was truly a MESS! I almost gave up on that old Clock Case. I even found another case on Marketplace and had plans to install the old movement in it.... The deciding Factor were the old names and dates written inside on the door... That was a big part of that old Clock Case for me and could not be replaced... I thought it better to go without the Veneer and clean up the case, the best I could, thus, preserving the signatures of the clock repairmen, from the 19th century...

I am not really sure I understand your Comment.... I am only describing the location of where the building once stood... Even, after 95 years since the Murders occurred, it's hard to believe what a Grim time this was in our country, brought on by Volstead Act, passed in 1919...

Yes it is... I remember when I was young, Dad took us by the old Garage. It was still standing, then... He told us about what happened... If I could turn back the hands of time, I would have a million questions!😊😊

So several years ago I made friends with a guy who had been neighbors with a Chicago area news photographer. As they often did back then, the Chicago police asked the news photographer to take photo of the crime scene. When he died, the photographer left his negatives to my new buddy. He had a photo of the bodies printed and gave it to me.I had it framed and hung in my office for a while. It is on loan to a friend now. From a less older guy north of you in La Porte...

@jackoshaw24 күн бұрын
Tempus Fugit is not a Brand of clock... It is a motto that is inscribed on a lot of Grandfather and Grandmother clocks as a tradition.... It is Latin for "Time Flies." Not a brand of clock like a lot of people think..😄😄😄

I inherited this clock from my dad. He bought the kit and assembled the clock in 1978. Unfortunately the suspension spring just broke after running for 46 years which I thought was impressive. I replaced the suspension spring but I can't get the clock to restart. The chimes are working. Either I made a mistake doing the repair, or when the suspension spring broke the middle weight got pulled to high , or the chain came off its sprocket. In any case there is no movement, i.e. no tick-tock. I have tried to feel for the chain sprocket but no luck and the sprocket is not visible. Would welcome any suggestions.
@jackoshaw2 ай бұрын
...First, I would make sure the clock is sitting level... Then I would adjust the beat of the clock... Where the Suspension spring attaches, There is king of a clutch that will move the suspension spring to one sid or the other.... it needs to be adjusted... Remover the pendulum and rod, Take the back off and see if you can't get it to "Tick-to" by hand. Adjust the clutch until it runs by itself without help and without the Pendulum attached... if it does, let it run for a good while....

Great video love that clock. My 95 year old Father just gave me one he would like me to restore. It would be greatly appreciated if you could let me know where you acquired the print for the clock dial. Mine is completely destroyed apparently the clock went through a flood back in the early 50s. Thank you for your time 😊

The print isa Canvas Painting sold on Ebay.... I buy the right size to fit the opening and sandwich it in between two pieces of single strength glass.... I place it in the opening, then paint the inside with black paint... It's hard to tell that is not a reverse painted glass...

I built one of these kit clocks around 78. Mine was walnut , put together, stained and finished the cabinet! My first major wood project, turned out great. I was in my early 20s. Mine had the moon dial , it kept perfect time!!! You can still get these clocks from Emperor They are located in Virginia now.

This one keeps great time, after I found out the person that built it, cut the pendulum rod a little too short.... I was able to extend the length on it and that's all it took to be a nice time piece...
