Why should a Bushcraft knife handle abuse??? Maybe because you don’t know how to use it properly??? The Mora Companion is the best Bushcraft knife made, I say BUSHCRAFT not Survival! Why baton it? You should have an axe with you, Bushcraft NOT Survival!! You don’t need an overbuilt monstrosity for Bushcraft tasks.

Thanks for your reply Howard, i can assure you that as a former Bushcraft instructor,I really know what a knife is able to do . I disagree that you need an axe to do those tasks. An axe is more heavy to carry around and unless you plan to build shelters, it's often overkill. Less is more. Btw I do agree that Mora is a great bushcraftknife,that's why we use it in our beginners course. I wish you much pleasure into further developing your bushcraft skills and knowledge

if you are going to store the filter wet for a longer time, how do I do it? and does it also apply to carbon filters? in practice storage for a year wet how can it be sterile?
@Becomingwildman
@Becomingwildman Ай бұрын
@@AndreasNilssonSweden Hi Andreas, thank you for this good question. This is how I do it. I filter a little bit of tap water. Then I close the waterfilter without pressing the blue button in the bottom. Before that I remove the carbon disk as it is only good for a month when you activate the carbon. When I take the filter out if storage,I first filter some tap water to see if all stull works well, then I press the blue button,remove the filter, install the new charcoal tab and reinstall the filter and again filter little amount of water,just to have the filter standing in water again. I always have some water in the filter to prevent the filter from drying out. Hope this advice helped you, don't hesitate to contact me for follow up. ✌️🤠

@@Becomingwildman thanks for the good answer, it sounds like this is the system I will buy, I currently have an msr miniworks ex which is about 10 years old but I don't think it cleans properly and that it doesn't have an active carbon filter and that it doesn't remove viruses which in itself shouldn't be a problem but better to be safe than sorry.
@Becomingwildman
@Becomingwildman Ай бұрын
@@AndreasNilssonSweden indeed, the added carbon disk is great but its not for viruses as the in build filter takes care of that. The carbon is for heavy metals, chemicals and taste but it will never clear it out completely. But still it's more than what other brands offer. I'm mostly using the jerrycan of Lifesaver for many years and I highly recommend this brand.

@@Becomingwildman are you saying that from day one you activate the carbon filter, so that you let sniff him water, that this carbon only works for maximum 30 mre days from that moment? So aslo when you only filter this first day just 5 litres with it and no other days and no other litres after this? And if you let dry this carbon filter directly after this first day, that this also not working anymore when you want to use it 30 days later? And is this for every activated carbon filter like so? So also for the actived carbon inside the Miniworks EX or the activated carbon in the Katadyn Hiker pro where is activated carbon inside the filter? An also for the Pure Clear water filter who says that you can use this filter for 2 months or 200 liter wher also activated carbon is inside this filter?

This is completely illegal, driving in the natural environment of the forest is illegal in Slovenia. The road is intended only for forestry workers and land owners. More and more tourists do not respect us, nature, our culture, laws. Camping in the wild is illegal. British drunken disrespectful tourists are a completely different category of unacceptable behavior.

The camping wild part is true,but your allowed to drive on an existing trail in Slovenia. The signs at the beginning of the trail state, enter at own risk. If been living here for 4 years, i know some people in the off road community, im well informed about this and I talk to locals as well. About the British tourist Im clueless,never let any. We practice leave no trace,not even fire pits as many slovenians tend to do. We leave no toilet paper and we never go off track. I believe in setting an example and not to damage nature and I hope to inspire others tho travel well mannered and with the up most respect for the nature. If i would ever see someone do other wise, you may rest assured that I will have a strong talk with them.

@@Becomingwildman Greetings and thanks for the reply! I am a biologist and I work at the Ministry of the Environment and I know all the protected areas and laws in this area in the country - I have fellow biologists everywhere and I am familiar with their local situation. The problem in our country is that there is no control and low punishment. The Brits who live here respect nature more than we Slovenians do. Lately, there have been problems with TET drivers and groups from Austria, who drive through our Natura 2000 forests for the money of their guests. I believe that you are among the people who take care of nature. Unfortunately, too many don't have that attitude.

It might not make a difference to anyone but I wanted to mention this. I had a condor selknam that I didn’t like. Thanks for the video, I've got a couple of questions: Do the carbon filters reduce flow rate when they need to be replaced or just lose effectiveness? How much force do you need to use to detach the hoses? I wouldn't want them to fall off while using if they got bumped or something. Did the filter cartridge come in foil? I saw on their site they say unused shelf life for filters is "at least 10 years if foil sealed", 3-5 years otherwise.

In my experience with knives, I only use carbon steel blade knives they are easy to sharpen and will throw a spark with a Ferro rod or a piece of Flint, several of my knives are made from 3V steel which is harder to sharpen in the field but once sharp they stay sharp for a long time and the effort to sharpen them is worth the end result

I spent most of my time in a camp somewhere out in the woods or on the river but even my home is a one room cabin with just a few lights and TV, I heat with wood and also cook on the woodstove during winter and mostly outside during summer, I love it and would not trade for a mansion with all modern convenience.
