CarbonX is a fresh/salt water reel. So even if the spool housing appears more open, the actual components are likely sealed much better than on the Diesel.

Why a 5 bearing reel when the lews is 7 bearing
@NathanBlank
@NathanBlank Ай бұрын
Great question! When it comes to fishing reels, the quality of the bearings matters far more than the quantity. Additionally, I pay close attention to the handle size, frame material, and overall aesthetics-they all play a crucial role in choosing the perfect reel, which is why I would rather choose a diesel.

Think the 1000’s are big enough? Why not the big bore?
@NathanBlank
@NathanBlank Ай бұрын
I don’t want anything bigger than a 1000 size reel. It’s just a personal preference, and I’ve had good experiences with the diesel already. Big bore reels are just too big for what I need.

Can this only be used on ice? Or can be used out of boat or land with extending rod without any ice?
@NathanBlank

I use mine on the boat all the time, you just have to remove a few parts on the pole and get a bracket that extends over the water and holds the pole.

UPDATE: 3:36 was a humbling moment for me. When I brought the fish up, its eyes had already started to freeze-a clear sign that I should have released it immediately. That moment drove home an important lesson: if it’s too cold for you to fish without gloves, it’s far too cold to safely handle fish. Frozen eyes are permanent, leaving the fish blind and significantly reducing its chances of survival. Respect the conditions, and above all, respect the fish. My mistake is a reminder to all anglers: if it’s too cold for you, it’s absolutely too cold for the fish. Let’s be mindful stewards of the waters we love and the life they sustain.

which shore has higher elevation and more cottages? north or south? which side has better beach and boat launch? where is closest convenience store? is there a fuel station near?
@NathanBlank

I would probably have to say South shore has more cabins and a better boat launch, but North shore has a better convenience store, AND a fuel station. Overall, I spend more time at North Shore.

@NathanBlank
@NathanBlank 8 ай бұрын
@@brandonlewis5135 They have snacks like a gas station, and common household items, but not groceries, although they have a fridge with meat inside sometimes. They also have a pretty decent fishing selection. Its a big gas tank with a pump right next to the lodge, but not on the dock. I only come out here to my friends seasonal camper, but I know people who live out there and I know that Northshore is open in the winter, but the hours might be different.

@@NathanBlank how would you compare big whiteshell vs west hawk, falcon, nutimik? fishing and overall beauty of lake.
@NathanBlank
@NathanBlank 8 ай бұрын
@@brandonlewis5135 I personally love the beauty of Big Whiteshell the best, but the fishing depends on the time of year. I have never fished in West Hawk, but I would argue that Big Whiteshell has the best fishing in comparison to Nutimik and Falcon Lake, based on my experiences.

Is that a diesel heater you're running? Can you share any info about it?
@NathanBlank
@NathanBlank Жыл бұрын
Yup it is a diesel heater - it is amazing for running longevity wise, and it is so much easier to fill up - as opposed to going out of your way to get propane. I will say that you have to get used to the fact that it takes a bit longer to heat up the tent than a traditional propane heater. Thanks for the question!
