That intro, the start of the movie was just so powerful. It starts with the evil and devastation Blue cosmos truly has always brought on and you just have this power house of freedom and justice just swooping in and putting and end to it or atleast that specific battle.

That's not chainmail or exposed armor On the Commander Zaku. Those are Magella Attack Tank tracks. Adding tracks to armor is a common practice during WWII to increase armor thickness on tanks. That Zaku was repaired after the first encounter with he Gundam, that's also why it now has a different shoulder shield.

In F vs Z the Gundam was a true nightmare to fight against with how fast and OP it was and you really get a good sense of how the Zeon Pilots left while trying to fight against it. I really feel at how badly they are screwed in this series. The Gundam in this looks like a hodgepodge of different unit and field repairs, namely like the GunCannon Beam Riffle.

Last time a Gundam looked this terrifying was ether Barbatos's last stand or the Full Armored Gundam in Thunderbolt

I love the technical details. But is it weird to you at all that they are using plain old 1970s style tents in the their base camp? Like... don't they at least have those nice pop-up LL Bean tents if not some fancy sci-fi prefab shelters?

It's reactive armor. It's why you see some tanks and APCs that have a "cage" around it. It triggers missiles or rockets to detonate before hitting the actual body of the vehicle so it does not have its full effect.

I feel like a big problem for a lot of people is the fact that they perceive carma to be a real thing. Just because show has ended with a relative happy end doesn't mean Prospera doesn't get away with all the stuff she did. I mean I guess they could have explained it better, but then the final scenes would loose their oomph if they dug into what and how, rather than jump forward and show the characters briefly. And yeah Prospera did not redeem herself. Her daughters and dead colleagues just convinced her to chill out. Both Mio and Suletta would try to help her get away scott free and hide her involvement. Niko, on the other hand, is a good person, so when she had to confront the fact that she's inadvertently helped a bunch of terrorists kill innocent people, she felt the need to atone for it and take full responsibility. That said, a lof of other complaints about the show is the fact that not everything is spelled out and jumps a lot between different storylines, which is kinda sad because that's what made me love this show(Well aside from Space Aliiance - Benerit Group - Council roles. They explained SA in the final episodes, and I still have no clue what Council is) . The pacing is really fast, a lot of intrigues and B and C plots are happening at the same time, yet they managed to not waste a single character and they all had their own arcs. I never expected Nika storyline to resolve in any meaningful manner, because it's so unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Petra mattered. The pinapple hair girl was an MVP. A lot of other side characters like Nikea and El5n also had their own thing. All of the side character arcs seemed to have been planned from the start of the show. But I've gotten off track. The reason why this show rocks so much is that pacing is really fast. And elaborating on everything would ruin it. Like the whole Earth-Spacian thing. What's confusing about that? The only difference with Classical Sure, some of the things are not realistic, but what Gundam show is? A lot of them have Newtypes from what I've heard, and those really turn me off Gundam. Yeah you could have another war show with maybe some teorists, like in IBO from what I've heard, but that's been done to death. Even the OG gundam has run out of things to say about war and had to resort to Newtypes - something no viewer can relate to and try to kinda build the narrative off that. The whole intrigue - inheritance - human experimentation thing together with normal Gundam teorist stuff and Space-Earthian conflict made for so much more engaging story. Yeah, it's not a Gundam show. But there's a reason I'm not really interested in watching most Gundam shows. 1 - I'm tired of inevitability of war both in UC and real life and there's not much new stuff to say about it and 2 - Newtypes Also the ending is better being the way it is, than if they tryied to focus on the action - the weak side of the show, or prolonged the show into another cour. As I've said I really don't like the whole never ending war in UC, and also sequel would mean more suffering for characters, so f that. TLDR people want too much explained and snail's pace and realism over actually interesting show. If I wanted realistic war, I would have enlisted long ago.

I'm really not feeling the new gundam. The character designs looks terrible and netflix in general is just a giant red flag. Not feeling the mech designs either. I want some actual made in Japan UC material that isn't a movie. I'd take an actual F91 series or at least an OVA. Non of this western CGI nonsense.

The theory about 8th MS Team being a in-universe movie is how Macross deals with the original story having two different versions. "Macross: Do You Remember Love?" (which is far superior to the original show though considerably different) was later explained to be an in-universe film version of the events of the original series.

Thanks for the answer to my question! IMO, Yoko Kanno is one of the best anime composer of all time (Macross Plus would be my choice if I was stuck on a deserted island with only one album) and that's why it was so remarkable to me that Turn A's score was so unremarkable.

CG anime characters look terrible, so I can't say RFV will blow me away with it's visuals. The mecha looks good, but I'll always be taken out when I see the terrible looking human characters. I wish they would have just gone with traditional 2D anime humans and keep the mecha in CG. It worked just fine in Macross Frontier and that was over a decade ago. Or use the same technique that was used in Knights of Sidonia where they do use CG models for the characters, but put a sort of filter over them to make them look closer to a 2D anime. I do question if this will be canon to the rest of UC Gundam. Or will it be a prequel/lead-in for the live action movie, if it ever gets made. These designs are a world of difference from what already exists in the OYW and Bandai tends to do a better job keeping designs visually consistent.

Forget 2023. I'm just starting now in 2024 and I already love it.

If Bandai/Sunrise does finally decide to move beyond F91 and Victory in the timeline, I would be very happy. UC Gundam is just too constrained right now because they can't do anything that would contradict canon. If they can get past Victory, then they will be free to do things and I hope those new things are finally moving away from the eternal Zeon/Fed plot. I do wonder if Tomino's Gaia Gear will be used as a basis for the future of UC. I've never read it and it isn't "officially" a Gundam work, but I've heard a lot aspects of it has influenced UC canon. Plus, it has the true Char clone as the hero and that alone will sell model kits and figures.

Having played the ONT, Gundam Breaker 3 still FEELS better to play and they handled skills better. Not being able to master skills for use on parts that they didn't originate from cuts down customization and FUN options.

Would it be accurate to say that it plays like the Dynasty Warriors series but with customizable mobile suits? Fingers crossed that the Steam version plays as good as the Playstation version. That's been an issue for a lot of games recently.
