It didn’t work for me trying to get up oil spills from a grill under a covered patio. I had to hose off rather than let rain do it. The Dawn left worse stains than the oil.

I don't want to use Dawn because it goes down the rain run off drain and into the pond in our gated community. Using Simple Green, stiff bristle brush and boiling water. Nothing really works that well. F*cking garbage truck is pissing out hydraulic fluid at my curb. I live in a nice HOA and it looks like sh*t.

Dawn dish soap. Liquid Dawn for hand washing.

@@amypolzella8349 As a preface, I did let the stains sit for a few days. That said, In a rush, I grabbed Dawn dish soap, and coated the area completely as suggested. Not only are the stains still very much noticeably there, but the sheer amount of suds was utterly ridiculous to wash away (all after letting sit for somewhere between 3-6 hours, I can't recall at this point.) Absolutely DO NOT recommend dish soap of any kind for these kinds of situations, especially for older stains. As they are far too sudsy and not effective, in my experience.

Dawn by far is the best at loosening up grease and oil. I worked in restaurants and we used Dawn to clean the greasy old fryers. For the price you pay, it's 1/4 the expense of an industrial cleaner with harmful fumes and burns your skin. You can try other's if you want, but nothing has ever worked for me like Dawn.

Worked great for me even on an old stain. The stain did kind of burn back up once the weather approached 100F, so more than 1 treatment may be needed.

Do you think this would work on asphalt on the street? A contractor/handyman leaked tons of oil on the street outside my house. Neighbors and HOA are making my life m miserable over this. Although I do not think it will take it off completely, maybe it would at least make it less unsightly. Thank you.
@BumpyJohnson9219

I would have that contractor come right back out and clean it up, otherwise I would pay for it to be cleaned and they would pay by me billing them or by the court system. No way I would allow that.

If your HOA contract does not mention public roadway damage not directly caused by you then you are not responsible... however, the contractor could be held responsible for cleanup by whomever owns the roadway.. if you life on private roadway, and your contract says that you are responsible, then try the soap, a pressure washer with the disc shaped surface cleaner attachment, do not use any acidic chemicals on asphalt/blacktop/macadam...
