Thanks for your comment and suggestion. I did try a abrading the pole at one point, but didn't work. By the way, also had a similar problem with a cantilever umbrella that kept swinging in the wind because the clamp did not exert enough pressure in friction on the pole. So I did the same thing with the bolt.
