Interesting, I've been throughly following the Vasa story for more than 40 years now and I have always believed the part about the extra battery deck being added after the fact. So this was the first time I heard that I've been mistaken for so long. Dr. Fred Hocker is an mazing story teller and we can't thank him and his team of researchers enough for what they've uncovered about the Vasa.

6:45 I think this little room is just to protect the back rooms from water and dirt from the decks, just like we have in camping tents. On a boat, during a rainstorm, we have water everywhere, the doors wouldn't be efficient enough to keep the water out of the rooms, so they would make spaces between the inner and outer doors just to keep the room dry. Just my theory.

Just guessing here, perhaps the excess headroom on the gun deck might be because the king wouldn't bow his head.

Sounds like the new cradle is going to cut up and screw up the ship, why worry about what kind of shoes your wearing if your gonna really screw up what you built..how bought more support all around the bottom, is it just don't have nothing to do now?

Yes, he mentions it in the first part. They have enough grip to safely go around the ship and they can't catch any dirt to damage the wood. And they never leave the ship as well.

awesome videos, but i wonder why do you use steel? carbon fiber material can be as tough as steel but can be formed and shaped that it will blend in and it can be painted to look like tarred wood? you may reconsider the decsision to use steele.

Skulle det gå att räkna ut vad för stående våg som en sådan kanon har och då använda en sorts sonar-ping att matcha denna som då riktas mot bottnen i förhoppning om att detektera att den vibrerar med denna?

Thank you for the video. But I got bored with looking at the man, and left. You commit the unforgivable sin of turning your video into a documentary about the presenter! I saw comparatively very little of the ship; the camera was consistently focused on your presenter! I'm sure his family was thrilled to see him on video, but his face does nothing for the other viewers! He should of course be introduced to the viewer, but then become a disembodied voice, narrating the subject at hand. Instead, you've wasted the viewer's time, as we try unsuccessfully to see what we tuned in to see.

Very interesting. One thing... It's a series of VIDEOS. Not films. We do not film, we video. Besides, defining the process is stating the obvious. :-) Film, filming, and filmmaking are the most misused words in the industry. 🙂 Digital Video and film require different skill sets. Having DIFFERENT historical and TECHNOLOGICAL timelines spanning 150 years. Have pride and knowledge of the gear we use including the words that describe what we do. Our tools are Digital Video, Non-linear, and CGI. We are moviemakers, not filmmakers and we do what film wishes it could. We are Videographers and/or cinematographers. 🙂 We video or are videoing, we do not film. That's the other RARE professionals who know how to use film and film cameras, like an ARRIFLEX 435 Panavision R-200 and Steenbeck flatbed film editors. Know the difference and have a better understanding of the craft. You will also stand out in an industry polluted with point-and-shoot "pros". Respect to you.✌♥

Hello! ♍🇵🇱🇸🇪👍

At some moment you're going to have to replace pieces of wood. It is a perishable material after all. But I think if you manage to keep the shape intact it will still be Wasa. Buildings are restored like that and nobody suggests that after thoughtful restoration it has become something else.

True. On the oldest wooden building Horyuji temple, some of the wood, especially exposed rain was perished and replaced with 根継 矧木 or 埋木 techniques. Repair carpenter has been attached to the building from the ancient time, full re-assembling is done in 400 year cycle.
