Donald, you have drawn attention to how this hymn quite suits this time, when we are thankful for the blessings in a year ending and confidently ask for those in a year beginning. Thank you!

O God beyond all praising, we worship you today and sing the love amazing that songs cannot repay; for we can only wonder at every gift you send, at blessings without number and mercies without end: we lift our hearts before you and wait upon your word, we honor and adore you, our great and mighty Lord. The flower of earthly splendor in time must surely die, its fragile bloom surrender to you the Lord most high; but hidden from all nature the eternal seed is sown - though small in mortal stature, to heaven's garden grown: for Christ the Man from heaven from death has set us free, and we through him are given the final victory! Then hear, O gracious Savior, accept the love we bring, that we who know your favor may serve you as our king; and whether our tomorrows be filled with good or ill, we'll triumph through our sorrows and rise to bless you still: to marvel at your beauty and glory in your ways, and make a joyful duty our sacrifice of praise. * The second verse may be omitted.

You have pointed to the central Credo of St Paul and of the Christians to whom he was writing. This faith is indeed behind Holst's beautiful piece.

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test, That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best; The love that never falters, the love that pays the price, The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice. And there's another country, I've heard of long ago, Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know; We may not count her armies, we may not see her King; Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering; And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase, And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.

I just loved it! Absolutely in awe of that song! I think it is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever created! The lyrics lift up my soul and makes me so joyful! They mirror my own gratitude towards God! And this performance was so beautiful, the accompanying instruments sound so good! Awesome singers, awesome musicians! Thank you so much for sharing! Much appreciated!

Wonderful performance, especially in view of the timing between the date of this event and the disastrous situation that struck the world in March 2020 and still hasn't ended.

If you take a look, you'll find recordings of the choral group in Tucson with which I'm affiliated. Most of the recordings of our recent CD's are now found on KZbin. The works take considerable work to perform and now, as I'm on the Board... even more work. Which by the way, I thoroughly enjoy!
