That joint looks terrible, certainly laying the mat way to heavy which ends up with that terrible looking joint, on other hand those rollerman shouldn’t be stopping straight on the mat, turning can tear up the mat, but they could slowly turn off the mat and the following roller should turn behind the first roller in order to create a smooth mat without roller bumps, a rubber tire or break down would also roll the joint in real nice.

My employer sells pavers and they're equipped with Carlson screeds, gotta say that safety shoe is a good thing that was designed, likely has saved lives and serious accidents, one customer outfitted several pavers with them 👍
