The range isn’t going up to anything, that’s a poor ‘guessometer’. You have 87kWh battery. Look at the percentage and consumption not the guessometer. It is colder so you will get less. Yesterday I got 280 ish miles at 65 mph all motorway- colder weather video coming. Go watch my Tesla range tests in warm and cold. And ignore the guessometer.

Enjoyed the video. Can you tell me did you run the air con and if so what setting. I take it you were on your own with no luggage. I’m asking all this as I’m thinking of trading my Kia Niro for one of these as I regularly do a round trip of 208 miles and in winter it struggles to make the distance without a charge.
@wakeywarrior
@wakeywarrior 10 күн бұрын
@@jonturley9728 this will easily do that even at 75mph even in winter. The aircon I ran, if on eco it puts it in eco mode but frankly it seems to work the same, setting it at the right temp, not sure what it does. The car has a heat pump as standard and it seems to work very well. I suspect in temps like now 0 degrees you will get about 10% less range than on my video but if it’s still cold next week I am running another test. The aircon with a heat pump doesn’t take much energy. I did a run with 2 of us and a suitcase in a week ago and didn’t particularly notice any drop off although physics say there must be a slight drop due to extra weight.

Hi Wakey love the videos bud, proper real life use of the Scenic. I want to ask one question though the boot size states its 545litres but when i test drove the Scenic looking in the back its seems smaller than other boots i have viewed at 500litres+ which is strange, it does seem deep but not long. Would I be able to fit a pram and say 2 suitcases and other bits and bobs for a family trip?
@wakeywarrior
@wakeywarrior 17 күн бұрын
@@martylogan6024 Hi Marty thanks for the kind comment. The boot is big but it may depend on the sizes of things you put in. In my wife’s Kia Sportage which is a bigger car (see it on video) we could not get all our suitcases for 4 of us in the boot. I’ve two Samsonite ones (see the silver one reviewed on my channel) and in this they just fit in the bottom side by side flat. Then the other suitcase (A Tripp also reviewed so see that for size) goes on top. I can then get our very large Samsonite wheeled duffle in as well. This all goes in the boot. The duffle would have to go in the middle of the back seat between the kids in my Wife’s Sportage so for this configuration this boot fits in a lot more than the Sportage. The boot gets complained about a bit because it has a big lip, but that lip makes it much deeper and allows you to get so much in. I’ve actually filmed me loading it up with the above which I’ll put in my upcoming review. Unfortunately I’ve been incredibly busy at work so haven’t had time to finish it yet but I’d hope to get it out in the next few weeks so stay tuned. Thanks for watching and commenting. I think the boot will be plenty big enough for you.

@@wakeywarrior Thanks for the speedy reply! I have seen the sportage as well and that looks like a big boot so for you to get what you have advised in the Scenic but not in the Sportage is a big plus as its a big ticking point for me boot size with having a young family I need to get a proper real world test drive so i can use the boot like i would in real life lol. Now I'm edging even closer to pulling the trigger for the Scenic its now which one the Techno or Alpine. I’ve just got some figures from Gridserve after talking to them this morning, for a 2 year lease from March next year. Both the same price (well actually Alpine is £2.50 more per month) Really can’t decide which way to go.
@wakeywarrior
@wakeywarrior 25 күн бұрын
For £2.50 I’d maybe go Alpine but not sure because of reduced range. I saw yesterday you could get Techno long range for £400 a month, 3 down (£1200) 10,000 a year miles yesterday- great deal it’s dropped £30 a month. Make sure you are shopping around.
@Piner5074
@Piner5074 25 күн бұрын
@ Gridserve are offering me £304.50 and £307 over with 12 months upfront and 5k a year. Because I’m retired I only average 4k anyway. Also using a bit of man maths, selling my current Zoe will cover that upfront plus about a year of payments. (At least that’s how I’m going to justify it to the missus) After 2yrs if I still like it, I’ll probably look out for a used one, I suspect there’ll be plenty of ex lease ones on the market at that point, as l think it’ll be hugely popular because of its range.

Yes it does, the only difference between Techno and Alpine is the trim (blue carpets etc) and bigger wheels. The Iconic, the top one has better stereo, the bigger wheels (albeit not as nice I don’t think as Alpine), 360 camera with digital rear view mirror, glass roof and electric message driver seat and once again different trim. Otherwise the cars are all exactly the same in other aspects. If you aren’t bothered about the glass roof, one to go for is Techno really as the slightly smaller wheels give better ride and more range, and it’s actually fully loaded anyway, and you are not paying a few thousand for a bit of trim and 1 inch bigger wheels. I don’t think it’s fair to say Tesla needs to change the chargers to suit other car models. Maybe other manufacturers should put the charge port in the right place. I know you’re trying to convince yourself that the Renault can compete with the efficiency of a Tesla driving at proper motorway speeds but it can’t.
@wakeywarrior
@wakeywarrior Ай бұрын
Not really cars have the ports all over, and Tesla has opened up chargers to these cars, but have bump stops way off the chargers, and very short leads (which as a 6 year Tesla owner, new S and new 3 were often verging on too short even for Tesla). I’m not trying to convince myself of anything, I’m doing tests like I did in my 3. The car won’t be as efficient as a 3, for obvious reasons, there’s not that much difference with a Y I don’t think. The huge battery is fantastic though because it’s the same to buy as a Model 3 RWD and I can get about 50 -75 more miles in the same conditions in a bigger more practical car. That really matters to me because I am not stopping to charge nearly as much, less range anxiety and much cheaper. Charging on the go is expensive, even on Tesla chargers. Tesla’s are excellent cars no doubt, I’m not knocking them, I am a big fan and advocate. However, the lineup is aging and the value isn’t fantastic. Thanks for watching, full review coming soon where I’ll go into some detail about how it compares in my view to Tesla. I am genuinely very impressed with the Scenic but there are areas of improvement that could be easily made. I used to be quite blinkered, Tesla was the only decent EV. Up until a year ago I would not have bought a non Tesla. But now they have serious competition.

Depends on time of day and whether you have a subscription. The chargers tend to charge 45pence to 65 pence or so not subscription but some v busy ones are even more. So you have to drive at 60 to get a decent range? A 280 mile journey at 70 takes 4 hours, at 60 4hr40 plus you have to hang around for an hour waiting to charge? A 4 hour journey in a fossil burner suddenly adds almost 50% to the journey time. Seems like we're going back to horse and carriage times for travelling across the UK. It's not progress. That said, I have to replace my company car in 4 months time and the Scenic is at the top of my list. This was just the review I was looking for, after watching about 20 videos on the Scenic. Thanks.

@@WillScott73 Hi, yes I didn’t have to charge en route it was because I was stopping anyway. I didn’t charge coming back (well just whilst I had breakfast that morning topping up the battery). This is an unusual route in that there’s virtually no routes where you could travel this distance in a day without encountering lots of slow traffic. In fact it will be rare for anyone to do that distance and average 60mph even if they go 80 when they can I suspect. I’m doing another test tomorrow, down to Milton Keynes and back. In my Tesla I might ‘just’ have made it in perfect conditions but usually had to charge briefly. This will be more typical of driving in the U.K.- traffic cameras average speed on the M1, jams etc. I am going to set it to 65 and see how we go. Should do it, 280 miles there and back. Stay tuned. Also you would never normally charge to 100%. You normally would charge to 80% max, and that last 20% takes a long time. So you would not normally stop so long to charge. In normal circumstances I’d likely have charged only for the time needed to eat my lunch, then set off again. You also save a lot of time generally with an EV never going to a petrol station at home. The ‘I’ll have to go out and get some petrol’ runs are not missed. I’ve had an EV for 6 years and much prefer it, as most (87%) would not go back to ICE.
