Liberation theology is the political aspect of some religious movements. Chomsky did not discuss religion at all. Only politics, especially the politics of who's the worst terrorist (always the United States in his view). He never mentions that terrorists sometimes must be killed in return for their crimes (turning the other cheek doesn't work). He seems to be afraid to admit that religion has been the greatest source of terrorism in all of human history. He doesn't realize that it takes power to overturn the power of fascism. It's not enough to complain about oppression. Oppressors could care less what you think.

And Liberation Theology was NOT a method for restoring Christianity, it was seen as highly controversial by the RCC because it neglected theology presuppositions about the salvific life of Jesus Christ. He completely throws these considerations out the window. He is not an expert in this regard by any stretch of the imagination and neither am I, but these points have to be called out.
