2024 South and Central American U.S. policy in the last 75 years helped create weak 'states'. The U.S. is responsible for our long-lasting Southern border 'crisis.' American Christianity continues to represent bondage rather than liberation.

Liberation theology is the political aspect of some religious movements. Chomsky did not discuss religion at all. Only politics, especially the politics of who's the worst terrorist (always the United States in his view). He never mentions that terrorists sometimes must be killed in return for their crimes (turning the other cheek doesn't work). He seems to be afraid to admit that religion has been the greatest source of terrorism in all of human history. He doesn't realize that it takes power to overturn the power of fascism. It's not enough to complain about oppression. Oppressors could care less what you think.

*Google the Council of Nicea in 325 AD* and you will realize that the early Christianity of Jesus was not as the church eventually manipulated it to be. Even Trinity wasn’t believed in by earlier Christians. Christmas, Easter, etc. all are pagan celebrations, and even the date of Jesus birth is not the day that is being celebrated today.. Unfortunately, those churches’ leaders invented a new religion and got away with it

without religion things would go very awry for too many people around the world. nut religious books are another thing totally. they are storybooks containing historical incidents both fatual and fictional. and a whole lot more stories added since time immemorial. and that is what needs fixing. none got any clue how to, do we !?

Religion has become political and big 😊business, especially the tax exempt status, where corporations enjoy hiding their wealth, especially in real estate, only when everyone, religion included, start paying they fair share of taxes and wealth is redistributed in the best interest of this country will we begin to heal, making education paramount, but religion knows that a educated society means the death of religion as a political tool for the wealthy evangelists and religious leaders ho live off their congregations…

No evidence whatsoever to support his interpretation of the history of Christianity. None. And liberation theology is Marxism masquerading as Christianity. Christianity was never a social reform movement. It is concentrated on the question of the soul and immortality. Whenever an atheist starts talking to you about the meaning of religion, you should give him the same credence you give someone who has never seen a baseball game but who wants to give you his opinion on who the best hitters and pitchers in the history of the game are.

What a Karen. Christendom does not just cease to be the religion of the poor. Wrong takeaway. There's more to life nonetheless than rich or poor (concerning what body/nation is powerful vs meek and vulnerable [power structures]). And I don't care if it's the Catholic Church we are talking about. It is still not an institution, (I mean this), it's a body, it's a mystical body, it's a corpus. Why be entrapped and enveloped in circumstance because it is immediately objective, and there is an intelligible ethos to what is occurring amongst the faith, and it's sameness is timeless because it is just the four Gospels. The story is already over, Christ says "it is finished". Really to put Christianity in a box where Chomsky simply talks 1st, 3rd, and 20th century, and string that together, is lame, and impotent in the true discernable fact, which is a spiritual fact. Among religion I see truth and clarity, moreso when you observe the Gospel in it's concise abundance. Among the civilizations aimlessness. Civilization is an institution and hardly a faith, save for nationalistic dreams. Faith is constantly branded an institution but is truly faith abundant. Call out to Lord Jesus

"For which we were responsible" he says. Ridiculous. Go ahead and say "for which we played a part", or "which we supported and encouraged".... Its not like Salvadorans have no brains and also didn't make decisions to massacre people. We supported it and encouraged it. It means we share some responsibility. There were tens of thousands of Salvadorans doing the killing.

the Church did not go from the persecuted to persecutors with Constantine. This is a MASSIVE generalisation by Chomsky, I would like to read why he made this claim. And Liberation Theology was NOT a method for restoring Christianity, it was seen as highly controversial by the RCC because it neglected theology presuppositions about the salvific life of Jesus Christ. He completely throws these considerations out the window. He is not an expert in this regard by any stretch of the imagination and neither am I, but these points have to be called out.

I dont buy that version of its history. I believe it's always been a Machiavellian power play to win hearts and minds of the poor to more easily dominate. This talk of revival is just a clever way to expose, then squash potential uprisings to the empire.
