In my opinion Shacklesborough is near the top of Teesdale's viewpoints: and quiet too! Great shots.

Thanks Richard. I was lucky to capture them at their best. They don't flower for very long, I had a wander along there today and they have all gone to seed now.

I was lucky enough to see High Force at a similar level. Is there any footage of Caldron Snout during this storm?
@davidforsterphotography7 ай бұрын
It's a great sight to see first hand isn't it. I haven't seen any footage of Cauldron Snout from this time. That said it probably would not be in major spate on that date as the dam above tends to delay the flow at this point. Instead Maize beck below the snout is the main tributary for floodwater from the hills above.

I love seeing the wild garlic. I don't know of anything quite like that where I am.
@davidforsterphotography8 ай бұрын
Hi Craig. We are quite fortunate in that these plants love damp woodlands. I think being early spring flowers our wet winters are ideal for them. I have just watched your spring cherry blossom video and we certainly don’t get anything like that, at least not in the north of England - beautiful.

I home Ed and my daughter is doing geography. Just wanted to pop on and say thanks for the amazing footage on the Tees and Boscastle - we have been using these for studying rivers, features and flooding. Each time we get into this topic she says - ‘let’s have an outing with Dave’ before we get into the textbook 👍🙏

Thank you for this, I am so pleased the videos are informative in that way. When I did the HIgh Cup Nick video last month and mentioned the geography and glacial effects that created the valley I hoped some people would find it useful too. The way the weather shapes our landscape fascinates me. Best wishes to you both 😀

It will make a great shot with some decent light. It's on my return to list as it were. There may be restrictions on visiting some of the area at certain times of the year due to birds nesting and moulting, easy to check with reserve staff though, they are very helpful.

Nice images and I loath those observation decks at waterfalls here in the states. Do you or have you ever given any thought to desaturating the water to reduce the effect of what I assume is some sort of Tannin that gives the water that Amber color. I don't ever recall seeing that in my area in flowing water. Thanks for sharing
@davidforsterphotography Жыл бұрын
Hi Tony. Yes not keen on observation decks either. The structure in this video is a bridge across the stream which is the only safe way over, so it gets a kind of grudging acceptance from me 😀 It's a good point in regard to the tannins in the water which are from the peat moorlands here. That colour is present in all of the streams and rivers in the North Pennines where I live so I don't really give it a lot of thought, it's a good point though and something to consider. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

@mikesaunders47757 ай бұрын
I have to disagree, the Tees looked fantastic from High to Low force.
@GOLDSMITHEXILE2 жыл бұрын
I've seen the tees in this state a few times. About 1976 or 77 the water was right up, higher than on here. Kind of scary all that power and energy. There was a spot just downstream of the white swan close to the stone steps where the water was actually almost still, a tiny back water. I dropped a worm in literally 2 or 3 feet away and pulled trout after trout. They were all sheltering there! Theres a stone marker carved into the pub wall showing a record level from maybe the 1800's? The water didnt reach it on that occasion. What always got me was how the ground would shake when there was a high level flood
@davidforsterphotography2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that info. The highest I ever saw the Tees was in the late 70's too and it was at the top of the steps and spilling onto the road at the Sills, and also into the fields by the Green Bridge. I think there is also a flood level marker on the wall part way down the righthand steps nearest the Swan where the old mill stood some years ago.
