Been sharpening my scrapers with a belt sander for quite a while, it's quick and easy to shape the blades into the curvature I want.

I use a Leagler with a long extention,We have very often hanging heating elements ,so I can sand deep under stairs,kitchens,heating systems. I am sanding on My knees for 30 years to have a better control. In the end it is all about the right steps towards finishing. Laquer or oil especially colour need a different approach. Like watching Cheers Rene Rotterdam The Netherlands. P.s. I never see tuturals about dissapointment.fm Clients side💔 Ehm it is too light,too.dark etc

The problem with edgers in general, they ALWAYS leave cross-grain marks. Even at 120grit they're very noticable once stain/finish goes on. Why edgers are just orbital and not random orbital blows my mind. A random orbital edger wouldn't leave any streaks even with lower grit sandpaper.
@mikemcgrath61502 ай бұрын
Use orbital on edges, buff w buffer, water pop w water alcohol mix, no marks.

So do you edge after each grit change? From 36 to 100 for example.

Great video! So helpful! Thank you

I wouldn’t say you need all the finish off you want it all off and to level out the corner to the rest of the floor. Feather it out far enough the buffer will hit it.

Does getting all of the scratches out matter if you’re just doing water based polyurethane ?
@PunaniJohnny4 ай бұрын
It matters if you are the type of person who wants it perfect. Its very hard to see the scratches standing up but if kneel down and look for it you will see some.

I own one, and I’ve always complained that it leaves too many scratches that can’t be removed. Personally I hate this machine.

Found this after I did edging in my house.. I went way slower b/c it took forever to get the finish off with 60g.. I probably should have used 36g like I did with the drum sander. I was left with swirl marks on end pieces like this but I largely did this side to side method. I ended up going back and hand sanding with a wood block and sand paper all around the edges XD. I'll def use an orbital next time. It may turn our mildly wavy at the edges but i'm using water-based sealer and stain. This is a helpful video b/c I had been wanting to know the professional process for edging. It was by far the most back-breaking part of the job.

I am so glad I found this video. I started using the edge sander and was starting to wonder why I couldn’t sand the last cm or so. Found out my wheels were too low. Was able to get it done 😊

Thank you for such a great teaching video. I was struggling! I am redoing my hardwood floors myself, never done flooring lol, and I was just fine until the finish sanding. I picked up the same type of machine and was going nowhere fast and was getting really frustrated. I did some digging, found this video, and now I have a chance of getting it done lol. I wouldn't be attempting to continue in without this video. Thank you again!

I was edger king in high school that's all I did. Back in the 80s, We did mostly apartments & condos nasty backbreaking work. Time was money I think I remember only using 80 grit if I recall. Somedays we didn't have masks & ear protection young & dumb. The boss used the big machine never an inexperienced guy.

I needed a refresher thank you. The last time I edged i was 15-18 y/o use to do it every weekend for the entire Summer. What grid to start would you recommend for oak stairs that have never been sanded. I feel deep grooves in the wood grain pattern>?

Gonna use one starting June. How long would 13 rooms averaging 12 by 16 take, lots of stuff to move around too? Absolute rookie. See if I remember to come back with that answer.
