Where you able to use the contaminated fuel without any problems ? Thanks.
@schoonerkiva
@schoonerkiva 6 күн бұрын
Sure did! We put it into our main engine and through our Dickinson diesel stove. We have a water separator, then a 10 micron diesel filter in line once the fuel is poured into the main boat tank. But the rust, water and sludge that the funnel filtered out was unbelievable!! We were super broke and couldn't afford to loose that much fuel. Even so, if we thought the filtered fuel would clog up the main engine, we would NEVER have put it through. Motors are way too expensive to risk!! Let us know if you have any other questions!!

Hey Neill. I like the anchor winch on deck. Just like a fishboat. I hate how mine is all chain that accumulates in a huge mound that you have to kick over as you bring in the anchor.
@schoonerkiva

Yes, we had one on a previous fishboat and LOVE it. My wife is usually on anchor so she really loves it. We found this one on Marketplace for $1500cdn. It has a tank less hydraulic system. You can find them all over the coast from the fishing fleet. We have 100 feet of 3/4" rope underneath, then 300 feet of 1/2" chain. What kind of ground tackle do you have? Thanks for watching and the comment!

Interesting video. You didn't take a lookie-lou at the finished diesel in a glass before pouring it back into your fuel tank? guttzie.
@schoonerkiva
@schoonerkiva 2 ай бұрын
No we didn't do that. Although probably a good idea, we were so tired, smelly and filthy by the end of it that we never thought of that. The fuel did look good and we ran it through the main engine. We let it sit for a few days before that in the Jerry cans to look for water. There was nothing. Thanks for watching and commenting!! Melanie and Neal

How do you get the oven to get warm,Do you pull up on the lever on the right side of the chimey on the top of the cook stove? Does that lever go up or down to allow the heat through, I can't see the difference with ours
@schoonerkiva
@schoonerkiva 10 ай бұрын
Hi Stephane! Thanks for asking! Pull up the lever beside the chimney to heat up the oven. That closes the flap inside the stove, which allows the heat to go up the chimney. Instead, it redirects the heat around the oven box. Close the oven door. Our stove needs to be on setting 2 or higher to cook. A frozen pizza on setting 2 takes 20-30mins. You can smell when it starts cooking. Once you are finished cooking, push the damper (lever beside the chimney) down. Despite what you may think, don't operate the stove regularly with the damper pulled up. It doesn't keep the heat in the way you might think. What actually happens is a reduction in airflow to the flame box, and the flame box soots up with charcoal. Yes, we have done it, and yes it is a MESS to clean up! Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions! Melanie
