Do you think 389 has that adjustment screw thing just like 379?

If its a trw steering box yes. But even if its not it should still have an adjustment.

Yes found it and was able to fix it within in 10 mins.. this was really helpful and probably saved me few hundred bucks and a trip to the shop.. you’re awesome man 🙌🏻

Why did you feel you needed to do adjustments? Any symptoms that made you think okay let me do adjustments? I have the back of the pigment arm moving a little when i pushed forward and back, between the steering box and the pigment arm moves.

I had float in the steering going down the road and excessive play in the steering wheel as well. This box was bad and eventually did need to get replaced under factory warranty, but the adjustment got me another month out of it.

Hell yeah. I was wondering if you could do this to these. Ill be doing that this week. After 5 grand in front suspension parts it still wonders a bit. Definitely need to tighten mine.

This adjustment loosens ands tightens the free play on the steering wheel? What if I don’t have free play but my steering wheel feels heavy and bulky, will this help me make the steering wheel a little more loose?

You may have air... if not you need a new gear box

Most likely your box or your pump is on its way out. Ide start with the pump since it's the cheaper option but check for air in the system before anything.

Glad it could help. I just did this one 4 months ago so I knew it didn't have to be replaced yet thankfully but your not lying the box cost me 6 and change and I did the install. If there was labor involved it would have cost 1200 bucks easy.

How do you adjust to equalize the both sides depth?

All done by eye. Sorry for the late response I got real busy with work the last 2 months. As long as you follow the template outline the metal will bend pretty symmetrically on both sides as its only going to go in so far without passing the template lines.

And use as new of a plastic hammer as you can. The metal will form to whatever you hit it with so if your using a hammer with a bunch of marks dug into the plastic it will transfer to the metal in the form of divets and bumps. It won't be smooth.
