So ideally if you needed to warranty it for calibration, couldn't you just nuke it and warranty it for something else being broken?

Bought the husky for around $90 and it only lasted me 3 months until it fell apart. Within that three months i only really used it to tighten wheels and reinstalling pulleys. The $20 Pittsburg one has yet to break on me, 5 months in with this one.

When changing oil on small engines, it's easier to just siphon the oil out. They make a tool just for that, but you could use a brake bleeder or something similar.

I have the big fortress quiet compressor. there is a note that says if it won't turn on to unplug it with the switch off for 10 minutes. I need to do this several times as I am using it as it keeps crapping out and won't pump up all the way. Is the a bad pressure switch? Is there an adjustment???

I understand your concern with the ratchet axle stands. BUT those "Big Red" 3 ton axle stands that you have, have a locking pin. I have a similar design. Is there anything wrong with those in terms of their safety?

I have a pair of escos and they certainly look the part. Various tests online show they perform as well too. However, steel is unintuitively strong. Properly made ratcheting jack stands will not fail for passenger cars. Even though they look weak, they can easily support the weight of a car. If you're short on cash, just buy a good brand name pair of ratcheting stands. Husky makes some good ones. Steel also does not weaken with age. Aluminum does. As long as they're not rusty, steel jack stands will last a lifetime.

In-line paper element fuel type filters are NEVER used in a gravity feed system (non-fuel pump, low pressure) although a screen strainer type could keep many larger 'chunks' from going to the fuel bowl, waiting for you to clean that sludge out "someday". The "Starting Mechanism" is called a Recoil Starter and the "pulley" is called a flywheel. NEVER just pull on any spark plug wire to remove the boot. Twist the boot to break the boot sticking to the plug and then pull on the boot to remove it.

I've used both styles of jack stands forever. The pin ones are a PITA because the holes are at specific increments, the reason ratchet jacks were created was to solve this very problem. So, I gave away my pin style ones and use my ratchet "dangerous" versions. Never, ever had an issue with them. Once I get the car on the jacks, I give it a shove or three to make sure everything is stable. Never had an issue. I see these other videos where people magically "bump" the release. Yeah, never seen that. Since I'm about to go purchase another set of stands, I will admit that the locking pin is a reasonable and cost effective safety design. Points for that. We all need to keep in mind that all auto stores, Home Depot, Wal Mart, Lowe's, insert any other names here buy their stuff from China. It's just relabeled. This is my biggest gripe with people who disparage HF. Double standard. My rolling toolbox cost me $200 from HF. HD wanted $899. For the same thing. So, inspect always, apply common sense and live a happy life.

The 1/2 for the HF brand is good. I bucks for 2025 rate. I tried the 3/8 version and it never clicks. Check the reviews and it is a common issue. 1/2 HF is the best for budget.

I tried the foil before and had the same messy results. Last time I used a piece of cereal box cardboard (waxed finish) cut it to fit under the pump and bent the exposed portion into a "V" trough. Worked great and allowed me to just leave a bottle and funnel on the ground--hands free! Thanks for the video

If you buy three Husky or Harbor Freight torque wrenches and look at their calibration sheet, chances are you will see the same numbers written on them. A real calibration sheet will have some hand writing on it, a signature or initials at the very least.

You are right about the high friction bearing that could be better, but it is not that bad when properly lubricated i think. Needle bearing at 3000 rpm with the repetitive impacts, i am not too sure....a more suited solution would be maybe a plastic bushing (like igus makes) pressfittted inside a metal shell.

At the end of the day, no high priced, high quality HF tool will retain resale value compared to the name brands.might as well spend the same cash or little more on reputable tool.
