This song was way too dark for Thatcher's shiny 'new' Britain. No wonder it wasn't released as s single

Those first 3 Flock of Seagulls albums were classic. This could possibly be my favorite song. They had some top notch stuff, but the sound man here needs to find another line of work.

New years eve 1983 Aberdeen beat Real Madrid to win the European Cup, my mum and dad were still together and I was in love with my BMX. I'm 53 now and when I hear this song I can still see us dancing in our living room.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song, in a half-conscious state (not drug-induced, was just going to sleep) on my Walkman headphones back in ‘85 or so (took me a while to get the album) and it transported me to another world. It still does.

I'm starting to appreciate music more in my 30s. As a teenager all I listened to was rap and garbage. As a lad I didn't know what real music was. This is music 👍

Paul Reynolds guitar work was fantastic really made the band so much better. Similar to Boon Gould's work with Level 42 and how good their songs were with his playing.

Hard to understand the allure then, given now there is every mix of music, but then 'new age' 'new romantics' whatever you choose to call it was such an outlier to type music that happened before. Kid, well young adults, leaning to the fringes, trying to find something less ordinary, a 'life on mars' (although Bowie was perhaps talking of the bewilderment of discovering deep city experience coming from the fringes) .

In my humble opinion, a far better song than I Ran. It’s the perfect 80’s new wave track. I used to like listening to 80’s music with my Mum. From memory I don’t think she was the biggest AFOS fan, but I’m 99 percent certain she would’ve liked this song. Heck, she may have even liked it already, she would’ve been 18 when this was released. Just wish she was still here to listen to music with…💔

Long back when i was a kid, my mum bought me this cassete from a cloth market in Delhi She did not know what she was buying, maybe the colourful album cover attracted her She never relised that she was going to introduce me to one of the groups which would change my life

Music from before my time, I wasn’t born until 1992. But it makes me yearn for a time when life was simpler, no woke bullshit, no snowflakes, no rampant political correctness and people getting offended over everything. Music was great, fashion sense was questionable, technology was still coming along in leaps and bounds…my Mum used to say the 80’s were just a happier time. And I’m sad that I’ve had to grow up in a world that started somewhat normal but has now descended into hot shit. I love this song, makes me wish I could’ve grown up in the eighties. I firmly believe I was born in the wrong decade.

I see so many comments about how the 80s were so great. I agree a lot of great music came from that magical decade, but in today's age the access to this music is incredible. I can instantly listen to some amazing and some lesser known stuff that I would have had no access to, without relying on TV and Radio rotation. This included bands from all over the word. So, The More You Live, The More You Love. Yes, the older I get the more I try to not take these times for granted, and to cherish what we have now. Including what came before.
