Trees that were felled in a month that has an R in it are very hard to peel. Best months to fell and peel are without Rs.

How do you get the logs though, let alone same diameter?
@AdirondackLogCabinАй бұрын
Cutting trees and taking the bark off. Just eyeball the diameter mostly have an idea of the size of log we need some variation is fine
@iambeloved496Ай бұрын
@@AdirondackLogCabin oh okay, thanks! Also, do you have to worry about treating the logs to make them last or will they be fine without any treatment?
@AdirondackLogCabinАй бұрын
Our logs are like 6-8 inches across makes them somewhat manageable to lift by hand to answer the width question. We havent treated any yet letting them dry out and shrink but eventually theyll be treated with a log oil of some sort to preserve them down the road.

Oak has a lot of Timber value… It’s definitely not a wood that I’d hack into firewood so readily!! Thanks for the vid

It makes great firewood though. Great heat, and it burns forever. If it's all oak, you could sell it for more than average.

Too small,for anything but messing around,tried digging a foundation with one a few years ago and it was like draining a swimming pool with a teaspoon,12 is perfect size for everything
@AdirondackLogCabinАй бұрын
I thought it would be too small but it actually impressed me with how well it did. Pushed over massive trees pretty effortlessly and dug a long road up a steep mountain in under a week. Bigger is better I agree but I was happy with the machine’s versatility. The bucket isnt huge though thats for sure. Thanks for watching!

Solid construction methods so far good job predrilling for the spikes will save you a lot of hammering also useing 3/8 rebar instead of spikes can save you some money specially if it scrap or stuff people on Facebook want to get rid of Traditionally butt and pass is one end of a log butts and the other passes little more stable then butting a whole log you can run cable between two tall trees and then from the cable to stump anchor to create a lifting location over the top of the cabin similar to a logging highline or how a two pole tent works lifting your logs with block and tackle or chain hoist if its just you two you'll need it for the higher logs and be carefull KZbin doesn't show how deadly building a log cabin can be specially alone with big logs there's a reason historically they were small and short buildings keep up the quality work guys
@AdirondackLogCabinАй бұрын
Thanks for the tips I appreciate it! We keep telling ourselves we will predrill the holes then when its time to spike it we forget. Already bought the spikes have a ton and got them pretty cheap. Thanks for watching! More to come
