I love this! I’ve decided to change my painting style, and move away from ultra realism, after I lost my possessions and art studio in a storage shed fire, recently. I’m building my life again, from the bottom up. Changing the way I draw and paint. I want to do looser art. After a week of research, I recognised the drawing style I could see in my head. And I’ve bought 4-5 pastels in the last 6 weeks, with the idea of roughly drawing around the flowers I’ll paint. I just wasn’t sure of the painting style for the flowers. Then I discovered you today, and I’m binge watching your videos!

Tky i am preferring my oil pastel used as impressionist style with overlapping and stippling techniques! It is taken less time with désires textures effects! After a while I can vanish it! Oil sticks are too complicated too use properly and it is costing an arm! Few artist can mastering his technique as pictural art and not abstract arts! It is a matter of choice! Tky for your work for showing your technique! 😊❤

Let them know they can’t just put oil sticks on bare paper or canvas because it skill rot the surface over time. Those surfaces be prepped With Gesso. Oil can go over acrylic if not too slick but never acrylic over oils.

I love your opening seconds of each video and how beautifully curated they are…you are inspiring me to begin a journal practice I can stay with. As someone with ADHD I have bought so many journals over the years - started - and then walked away. Yet, if I want to be a working artist I am beginning to understand how important art journals are for working out ideas, exploring tools and color palettes, etc. and as you say, exploring my own style.

This is so very fun…the lighting makes it difficult to see what effects you are creating. Yet, feeling very inspired! I live in Portugal and these sticks are difficult to find and very expensive if you can. Flying back to the US in a week and will pick some up to add to my beginning collection!

Hi, Renee! Thank you so much for your generosity on KZbin! I’m so grateful to have a plethora of truly in-depth art discussions! I’ve gone through most of your videos…gobbled them actually, and I’m so moved by your love of art, teaching, and living a beautiful life. I know that your classes are incredibly affordable. I have spent way more for far less in the past. I’m taking this class very soon. Thank you again for all that you do! - Black Girl Speak ❤
