This is the first year my cats don't care for the Christmas Tree.

This really took me back. Over 30 years ago I had two Siamese cats and they pulled the tree over at least a dozen times on their first Christmas. I solved it by getting one of those 1/2 trees that hang on a wall. Gorgeous cats Heather 🥰

Cute idea, but why didn't you put the first bottom binding on before you joined the triangles, leaving a gap for the joining? I see you need the second seam after the joining.
@woollyelephantpodcasts4057Ай бұрын
Hi Helen thanks for watching. I found it was a neater finish for me to do it this way.

Walking foot question just answered - I would only be using a thin batting between top and bottom of cotton!
@sandybruce9092Ай бұрын
I admit,to being scared of quilting on my home machines, especially when I see I need to use a walking foot! You did t use a walking foot, just sewed slowly! Yes!! I can do that! I would have used a frixion pen for the lines but masking/blue tape seems to work well! Now I just need to practice! On something larger, what would you suggest using to hold the layers together? We have so many choices - it can get confusing!
@woollyelephantpodcasts4057Ай бұрын
Hi Sandy. On something larger I would use either 505 spray temporary repositionable glue or curved quilting pins . These are technically a curved safety pin designed to be easier to insert through the layers. If your work is only thin like mine I just use regular pins or 505 spray. Thank you so much for watching 😊

thanks sew much now i will get a cheap rotary in a different color of my fabric rotary to use for masking tape😊

That's brilliant. I use masking tape for alsorts in my sewing.
@virginialegault4699Ай бұрын
I use it all the time to hold fabric in place especially when cutting several layers. Keeps it from moving and saves time
@woollyelephantpodcasts4057Ай бұрын
That's a great idea, I haven't tried that one yet
@DF-gu5nnАй бұрын
What a fabulous idea. I'm loving this pattern you made with the quilting. I make a lot of zippered bags and this would do nicely to make a the fabric a bit more sturdy and give it a nice look as well. I love not having to "mark up" the fabric and following the line of the tape ensures a very nice outcome with straight lines of stitching. Your demonstration method is perfection. Thank you for sharing such a great method. ❤💯

Having to stop & add/move the tape after every line seems like a hassle, but there's no arguing with the results! Plus you don't have to worry about your chalk/fabric pen marks not coming out. I'll have to give this a try (presuming I can find the masking tape, LOL). Thanks for sharing! PS - that bird fabric is quite pretty and charming :-)
