Hello! I have never played a MMO before & want to start? Do you think "World of warcraft" is a good starter MMO? I want to try (Healing) & maybe (Tank); I don't know yet. Just subbed!
@Moarcookiezlive
@Moarcookiezlive 2 күн бұрын
Thank you! I think world of warcraft (along with a majority of mmo's) is certainly very intimidating if you have no prior MMO experience. There's just a lot that gets thrown at you. My advice is this... 1. Find someone to help you consistently or play alongside you. A friend to play with, A beginner friendly guild, or a mentor of sorts (I am more than happy to help out if you add me on discord though my availability can swing) 2. Find a content creator you like, and ask them for help or watch a lot of their content to avoid being overwhelmed by a multitude of opinions. 3. Take your time and enjoy it. don't go all out on addons right away, ease your way into it and just enjoy leveling and figuring out the game as you go.

Curious why you don’t incorporate SW Death into your damage rotation. Is it just because it’s a beginner guide? Nice guide though overall! I just tend to add death/ apply additional SWP’s between penance and my first smite to keep that alternation going and maximize damage/healing. Planning to actually try M+ next season. I usually just play arenas
@Moarcookiezlive

Yep due to being a beginners guide I aim to only have 3 spells per categories to keep the rotations really simple. I'll include more spells and what not when I do full guides or commentaries with the class to be sure people aren't just stuck in the beginners rotation forever 😆

Please don't encourage people to be using Wild Growth without first using Swiftmend. It's bad practice and a waste of mana to spam Wild Growth like that. Wild Growth should genuinely never be pressed without using Swiftmend first so that you get your Soul of the Forest buff and that is extremely important for new resto druid players to understand and make a habit as it plays directly into the kit synergies. Swiftmend also always picks consuming regrowth's HoT on a target over rejuv, which you should ideally have up on a player before using Swiftmend on them as to not waste a rejuvenation cast since it heals for signifcantly more than regrowth's HoT.
@Moarcookiezlive
@Moarcookiezlive Ай бұрын
@Wolfy527 this is talent based and not important at all for beginners. This is aimed for people leveling in dungeons, or doing at most normal/heroic raids, which there is no reason to understand anything further than baseline abilities for. I always cover passives and spell/talent interactions in videos that are outside of the beginners series
@Moarcookiezlive
@Moarcookiezlive Ай бұрын
Like if you said all of what you just said to a brand new player to world of warcraft. They would be so overwhelmed with confusion. Start with a baseline and build up / learn new things from there. It's ok to start by using spells like effloresence and refreshing it when it's low duration but then later learning that actually you want to let it fully time out before refreshing it to because there is no pandemic window. You aren't going to struggle in content because you didn't properly use effloresence to its fullest.
@Wolfy527
@Wolfy527 Ай бұрын
@@Moarcookiezlive I understand what you're saying, but it's important for people to learn things properly as they're leveling instead of being taught to do something in a way that the class is generally not meant to be played. I wouldn't want to be taught to use my spells a certain way, only to get to max level and see another guide that includes the (very essential) talent aspect of any class and find out the class is actually supposed to be played in a different way.
@Moarcookiezlive
@Moarcookiezlive Ай бұрын
@Wolfy527 I appreciate the feedback though and I will be sure to cover this in content that is aimed at players moving beyond a beginners level of understanding the class because I do agree it's important, just not for brand new players as much as we might see it as being important. We aren't being concerned with just remembering what our abilties do in the first place, so it's easy to forget that there is a lot of steps for new/returning players to get comfortable and ease themselves into the class.
@Moarcookiezlive
@Moarcookiezlive Ай бұрын
@Wolfy527 that is unavoidable and going to happen if you are new. That's how you progress in learning something. You do it wrong technically always because there are always things to be doing better. If I show this talent interaction in a beginners guide and then they decide to remove the talent or make a tier set that changes which spell to use with the talent, the entire guide falls apart. The way it is now is to provide something consistent as a baseline to last the entire expansion or longer. Even talking about 12+ spells and which order to use them in is a lot of information. I think it's very easy to forget that and that's why mmo's are so difficult for new players. Hardly anyone provides them with resources that help them just get started. They don't need to min max their character or use all their abilities correctly. They just need to understand what the abilities do. Soul of the forest is specifically a talent that is meant to be versatile. I use it on regrowth very often in content like m+. So do I explain that too? It's a spiral that will just force further and further explanation of niche topics that don't matter at all to someone doing world quest with a friend or running a heroic dungeon.
