Based on the newest legal restrictions on mossballs being carriers for an invasive creature called zebra muscles, you might want to consider taking this video down. They are now illegal.

So um will moss balls survive in drinking water ? I keep my betta in drinking water to avoid spending money for dechlorinator to remove chlorine from tap water
@FoolOnDread3 жыл бұрын
No they won't sadly
@himlolo2 жыл бұрын
That sounds more expensive than just using dechlorinator

Beta fish are warm water type of fish(tropical) but moss balls are freshwater and they usually are for cold water

Moss balls can survive almost every temperature of water. They aren't picky, they thrive everywhere
@donedeal83852 жыл бұрын
Average yearly temperature of lake Akan is in the 30s F. If you keep them in a tropical tank you'll have to refresh them in the fridge once a week or so.

moss balls can adapt. mine works just fine. i live near the equator.

You really don’t need to rinse them speak them then rinse again it’s just unnecessary.... unpack them rinse them a bit in conditioned water and toss them in the tank

I know I'm dumb but wouldn't those moss balls be full of chlorine? That can't be all that good for them and I rinse everything I put in my aquarium in properly treated de-chlorinated water just to be safe.
@corpsemink86214 жыл бұрын
Raybe B Personally, I recommend washing them off with tank water and empty them of the old water. Putting them in chlorine does more harm than good.

Well he could be on a well and not city water. My well water is so fish friendly that I dont need to do anything to it before I add it to my tanks.....

Moss balls don't do well in water over 60 degrees. Marimo or moss balls in the wild are only found in icy cold water in Iceland, Scotland, Estonia, and Japan. I had 12 moss balls in 10 years and they always ended up looking like a rug covered with algae a few months later. Suppliers of these moss balls are dishonest they won't tell the customers they need to be kept under 60 degrees water. Moss balls are not hardy and they need cold water to do well. Moss balls are algae magnets unless you have a machine to roll them 24-7 in cold icy water.

Interesting I’ve had moss balls in my aquarium for 3 years with no problems so far. Good information. My water is usually around 72-79 degrees

Have like 10 moss balls in a 74 degree tank with a crayfish for over 4 years now and they are as healthy as can be. I think you are the misinformed one good sir

He obviously doesn’t know how to care for them. At least once a month put them in water and put them in the refrigerator for three days and they stay gorgeous
@Shetasen4 жыл бұрын
You could squeeze or roll them out while you're doing water changes.
