I'm reminded of the Early Access for Baldur's Gate 3. I don't remember seeing this line in the full release, but... Gale: "You're staring at me like a Rashemi at a blackboard. You're not a wizard, are you?" Option to respond with: "I'm better than a wizard. I'm a sorcerer." Gale: (I forget his actual response but it was something along the lines of "lmao no get out of here with that slander") That said, I love both for different reasons. As a pure caster, I prefer sorcerer just because of the Metamagic. But if I'm going to be doing any kind of hybrid melee caster shenanigans, Wizard is incredible because Sorcerer has no equivalent to Bladesinger and I'd need to multiclass into Warlock, Paladin, or Bard to get the most out of it, and that means less sorcery points (unless you have a short rest focused group and can exploit Warlock spell slots to essentially recharge your metamagic several times a day.)

No spells with action surge instantly makes the other trade off not worth it since they are all save checks they afe essentially just weak lvl spell effects and will be out classed by high lvl spells that the fighter cant do anymore i have yet to hear a change i liked

Everything I've heard of the new D&D has me very happy I have 5E books from the middle of the life. After some of the silly errors were corrected, but before these silly ideas got put in. Like... Every class seems to have some stupid combo that'd be more in place in a video game, not tabletop. Part of the fun of D&D is the need to find solutions to problems, not "Oh well im a bard so you cant save against my command spell so im just gonna spam that"

Y'all this is faerun not America, there is no legal drinking age. Back in the medieval times even kids would drink alcohol because cars hadn't been invented, the water was unclean and alcohol contains calories that commoners wouldn't otherwise get.

You can cantrip to replace an attack now though. And action surge can let you do THAT every time (after you get the feature at 7). Blade cantrips for melee and Truestrike for any weapon attack are pretty solid

Haven't played DND in almost 2 decades now. I'm more into Sci-Fi and narrative systems (FFG SW and City of Mist). Happy to see it changed enough to be interesting. I would have maybe played a monk in the previous version, but sure would do it in the new one !

On one hand, using shapes to sneak around suddenly doesn't get you caught after 1 point of damage. And they finally tidied up the rules so a lvl 20 druid with full hp disguised as a horse doesn't die to power word kill. On the other hand, shapes are mostly useless in combat for anyone that isn't just using it for a quick mobility option or moon druid
