a subcutaneous injection only goes right under your skin whereas an intramuscular injection has to go down all the way into a muscle group, like your thigh or your shoulder. They both have the same effects, but a sub-q injection has to be done every week even at first because I think it absorbs faster? Something like that. The sub-q is also less painful and less risky, with intramuscular ones you run the risk of hitting a vein and forming a blood clot.
